I fear i didnt realise how far the Sci Fi genre reached, i knew it wasnt restricted to space but its kind of where you start of with sci fi, as its sibling genre of fiction (fantasy) deals with the other areas of the occult fiction. I would personally not put a distopian film as sci fi but apparently it is, my appologies for being wrong.

Martin, 'In Bruges' is one of the best films of the decade, get over yourself, i didnt say it was the best film of this year as it wasnt released this year.
No, not enough. Walk the plank!

I dare say its a entirely new film as it is more of a Generic Hybrid, Combining 'Guy Richie' esque writing/scripting with an amazing cast and a fantastic use of mise-en-scene, along side a simple Cat and Mouse narrative with a very dark/cynical humour. As i study film alongside politics at uni (gonna get really shot down now arent i?!) i would love to write an essay on this film. Comparing it to 'North By Northwest' or another of the great 'Cat and Mouse' films.

No, not enough. Walk the plank!

I have a tendency to be close minded to genres i care little for, if i get used to tripe like Blade Runner (a marmite film), Starship Troopers, Solaris etc.etc. being labeled as Scifi as someone still relativley young (20) i am going to thus asssociate these films with the genre, it never crossed my mind that Children of Men or films like that could be seen as Scifi, i personally viewed them as deeper commentaries on society. The concept of genre in itself is extremely subjective or rather objective as it is down to the audeince as to what they associate and what they view as to things they appreciate and therefor group them into genres. It is therefor down to the media institution to instill the common consciousness into the inconography we see in films, and i dont relate what i saw in Children of men to being that of the Sci fi genre.

(is a bit drunk and this probably doesnt make sence)

Yeah, I'd say it's the best Tarantino film this decade. Great acting. A bit over-the-top gruesomeness, but you expect that from him. I was also a bit put off on the elements that were sort of a Jewish revenge fantasy (replacing one evil for another doesn't sit all that well with me) ... though perhaps the scenes of the Nazis watching the film and us watching his film was an intentional comparison...

I am consciously trying not to read any of yous' posts about the Basterds, I'm very paranoid about spoilers. For example if someone points something out about a film, like let's say "there was no chemistry between the leads", I will watch the whole movie under that impression, even tho it might have become a super enjoyable cinematic experience for me otherwise. This is so fucked up!
