Saw The Departed tonight. It was good but a bit overrated in my opinion. Having said that, I LOVED Mark Wahlberg's character! He was by far my favourite in the film. Jack Nicholson is the devil really, the man can seem to do his characters no wrong. I really enjoyed the dialogue in the film as well. While some of the actors seemed to have forgotten that they were supposed to have Boston accents, I still loved how the dialogue was just raw and true to life.

Saw the trailer for it on the big screen....seems absolutely amazing! I love with when he says "Sparta!!!" :D

thats the only part i actually didnt like in the trailer, leonidas is not the crazed chest pumping type, wonder where the adjective laconic originated. And this is from someone who always favored the thebans over the spartans- go epaminondas. Anyhoos still super excited about the movie.

"300", eh? Another cheap history lesson for the common popcorn-eating duffis..

I went to the website and immediately started laughing!

The Spartans I saw there don't even have the Spartan crests on their helmets!
And where are their tunics??? Why are they running bare-breasted?

I don't know anything about this comic book, but I seriously don't understand why Frank Miller tampered with such features, features that all Sparta-fanatics adore!

the same way homer envolved olympus in his accounts. they re storytellers not history professors and i highly doubt any of the movie goers are there for a primarily educational purpose. Though i must admit, it would be fun to use these kinds of funds to capture a vivid reenactment of thermopilae

Das Parfum. I sadly didn't read the book, so I'm unable to say how it relates to Süskind's master piece.

The movie is good. Rendering scents in movies must be one the hardest things to do, and this movie didn't succeed in it, which I imagine if one of the assets of the book. It only works at one time, in a filthy fish market.
And the head character is too pretty. Jean-Baptiste Grenouille should be ugly.

Story line is great, but that's Sükinds merit.

I've read the book and it's fantastic

You're right, Grenouille is constantly described as repulsive and ugly in the book and if they hired a pretty boy to play him I won't even bother to see it

God I hate Hollywood sometimes

The Norwegian horror movie "Fritt Vilt". One word: Incredible!
A must for all scandinavian film lovers, one of the best films in the genre I have ever seen... Recommended by Juve89.
