It does. But some of the acting is sooo 80's kitsch. I mean Rosanna Arquette is very beautiful, but she overacts the distressed, lost NY insurance agent. Both in Peru and in Sicily she falls over her bags in the train,... that's a bit too much.
The doctor and the competition president also totally overact. But I guess that's how it was done in the 80's.
Jean-Marc Barr and Jean Reno are both mythical in the film though. Jacques Mayol and Enzo Molinari...
Thes story is based on the true story of Jacques Mayol and Enzo Maiorca, whose name wasn't used for some copright issues I guess.
