I'm very much a La Haine (or Kassovitz) guy too, and a Mellville guy, and a Besson guy and so on. Doesnt mean "Amelie" isnt any less  To me.

Funny thing you said La Haine btw, the director of La Haine Kassovitz (done some very fine movies...and Babylon A.D...) is the lead romantic interest/male lead in Amelie :howler:

The only reason I am letting you off on Amelie is because it is a bit of a "chick flick." But it's a good one so you should give it a chance.

I want to see that, but it only played in DC. Which is annoying.

Yeah I realised it would not be everyone's cup of tea. The first thing I thought when I saw was that if my friends saw it they would probably be like, "You and your odd tastes." For me however there are some elements of the character that I could relate to.

Amelie has been my gf test since it came out... I show it to a girl I like and evaluate her on the way she reacts to that movie :D
If she likes, she's a keeper. There was this one Ukrainian girl, she got teared up kinda, I almost ended up marrying her.

Too bad she ran away, huh? :D

On a sidenote: Deneb is wrong, Amelie is great.

And finally got around to watching Four Lions. Quite amusing, but a few dull moments as well.

I just told my co-worker I was going to secretly experiment on him to see what his reaction would have been if I did the things she did to get the guy, i.e. if it would creep him out or make him intrigued and he just replied he would have spotted me, joined me in the bushes and asked what we were doing. It's a good thing I decided not to pick him as a test subject. :p

I would really love to see someone's reaction though, provided they don't have me arrested first. :p

EDIT: I just convinced him to watch it later. :D

Amelie is a lovely movie, The 400 Blows is legendary.

Take Shelter, great movie, one of the best films of this year I've seen so far. Can't believe Michael Shannon didn't get a nomination for his role in this one.
