The cast in that was fantastic, though. Tom Cruise didn't have to act too much for the role, but he was a great sleazeball. Philip Seymour Hoffman is always immense. Jason Robards is classic. The US National Board of Review awarded it the "Best Acting by an Ensemble" award because everybody was top-notch as an overall group.

As for the movie, you have three massive "coincidences" that drive the beginning and a single, common event that marks an inflection point on the characters' stories.

I watched "Magnolia", my second Paul T Anderson movie. I think his movies in general just leave me dumbfounded and it's just - I don't know what was the point he was going for. Apparently plenty of biblical references in his movies too which I may not be well versed on. The cast singing while it's raining AND raining frogs wwere just - what's he trying to say?

Magnolia is definitely a great movie, I saw it so many years ago but it got stuck in my head and specially the raining frogs scene I remember searching a lot for its meaning, it does have a biblical reference which would take too long to explain but to sum it up frogs are the symbol of fertility since they exist where there's much water so raining frogs means its raining heavily, and therefore it refers to god's healing and forgiveness in which he gives people much water which obviously means life

but in other opinions it refers to a punishment, since god sent raining frogs at egyptians (according to the bible) when they didn't let moses and israelis free

in my opinon in the movie he meant the first one,.. now i want to watch it again.

Or the likeliest interpretation that you're over-thinking and it has no deeper meaning. This isn't Tarkovsky, it's PT Anderson the most overrated filmmaker alive (or should that honor belong to Christopher Nolan, I'm not sure).

Yeah she's my dream girl!
Well get in line! I'm a huge fan of her since that '70s show and Forgetting Sarah Marshall is one of my favorite movies. I love Kunis, she's gorgeous. Perfect in every way. I'd marry her if I could!

Friends with benefits, Bad Teacher & Horrible Bosses, all fucking overhyped, so disappointing.
Disagree here. I think they're all worth watching.

andy garcia is overrated, he cant be the successor of pacino and brando. i hate the film beside the scene where pacino is in the kitchen and says " Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in "
Kind of disagree. The three Godfather's are classics and 3 of the best movies of all time. The thing is it's unfair to compare Garcia (or anyone else) to geniuses like Brando and Pacino. And the reason some people don't like the third Godfather is that they're so attached to the first two, and the third is kind of different but it's a great movie on it's own.

I remember all tom cruise was doing in the movie was showing us his eyes and new 'fake' teeth
Seduce and Destroy, yo.

I thought she was great in 70s Show. But she was practically a pre-teen.

Even now, she's a little too bug-eyed and off-putting for my tastes in that department.

That is true, the cast was great - and I was pleasantly surprised by how well acted the african american reporter interviewing Cruise was
