Just saw the Australian film Chopper with Eric Bana. About a famous criminal Mark 'Chopper' Reed who killed and tortured a number of drug dealers in and out of prison.

Wow! What a film. I actually can't believe I didn't see it sooner. Eric Bana's performance and portrayal of Chopper is 100% spot on. Definitely not for the fainthearted but the disturbing and morbid scenes are almost funny simply because of Choppers charming character. My only disappointment is that it ended too soon and abruptly. I'm sure there is much more to make a movie about but it goes only by what Chopper wrote in his book.

I HIGHLY recommend it. A great Australian film which is a rarity.

I've seen it before, some years ago, pretty hardcore stuff. We get a few of these more controversial films appear on a channel called Film4, at least this is where I often see the sort of stuff that won't make it onto mainstream movie channels.

Yeah there are bits which have a sort of art-house sort of style to them which I think complements the film overall. Definitely some hardcore scenes in it but I was almost too busy laughing at Chopper to be disturbed by the actual bloodshed.

Chopper was indeed pretty good. Speaking of Australian movies, I watched "Tomorrow When The War Began" recently. I have to say I was pretty entertained, even if it was somewhat of kids movie.

Due Date: meh. Some truly funny bits, but way too much boring stuff. Todd Philips' movies may be getting more popular, they're not exactly becoming better.

The Town: Not as good as Gone Baby Gone, but still way better than most of the stuff I get to see. The Fenway Park heist was well done.

Another great Australian film is The Castle. I don't know if non-Australians would find it funny but its an all time classic here. Cheesy story line. Smart comedy.

That was a wonderful film, I had forgotten about it. I might dig it out and watch it again.

There was another Australian one I really liked, I think it was called Kenny, about a man who services port-a-potties. Was very funny.

But it was a great movie and both Wahlberg and Bale put in one hell of a performance. You are right about the characters, they are highly unlikeable.
