But I did watch it with an open mind, that wasn't the problem. In fact, I enjoyed the beginning quite a lot (the scene where he takes control of the Smurf for the first time is awesome), but it all went downhill rather quickly after that.
Plus, a movie that takes itself so seriously should at least try to get the basics right: character development was sketchy at best, dialogues were painfully bad, ...
And, probably unlike most people, I wasn't blown away by the special effects either.

Meh, from that movie I expected 3 things; action, effects and semi-good plot(even though it's recycled hundreds of times, it's done and re-done for a reason). Asking for good writing or proper character development in such a film is too much.

Yeah, no denying that, but I have my limits.
When I watched it, I literally burst out into laughter a number of times because of what the characters said & how they said it. Surely, that can't be right.
But what do I know? Almost everyone (even some of the people I watched it with) seems to really like it, so maybe I'm completely misjudging it...



Anyway, that's 2 things now that we disagree on. I feel like a changed man

The Reader-i am beginning to think Kate Winslet is the anti-Neave Campbell and she has a nudity clause in every contract,decent film though

Clash of the titans, interesting for what it is (the child in me likes greek mythology fairy tales), but could have been totally another film if they put some effort into it. Felt so half assed. But had littl expectations, and was somewhat entertained for most of it.

Iron Man 2- Praise the lord for Robert Downy Jr, if it was not for him this film would not of been half as good.

That guy is simply awesome defined. Plays the role perfectly. Probably twice of what is asked of him (a role that is easy to play it cliche, but he is such a natural).

He is, I love it how he looks genuily thrilled being on the centre stage. He actually looks like he is having fun doing it.

Hehe you cant fake that kind of charisma. Plus, I think he transcended some kind of level of acting in Tropic Thunder, is just riiiiiiidicolous in that movie

He is, I love it how he looks genuily thrilled being on the centre stage. He actually looks like he is having fun doing it.

He was sort of washed up before he did Iron Man, relegated to supporting roles in films like Charlie Bartlet and A Scanner Darkly. He wasn't unemployable by any means, but he wasn't a bankable star any more. He actually seems to have all but begged for the part of Stark, a role he must be very comfortable doing - a manic alcoholic.

I liked it a lot, but it was a $15M movie which grossed $4M in the US. Now, the overseas market and DVD sales probably mean it made a profit overall (EDIT: its worldwide gross was $15.5M, so yeah), but nevertheless that's what's known in Hollywood as a 'miserable failure'.

i personally and i am sure you too, could care less about how much the movie grossed. If we re talking about RDjr coming back from oblivion to being the marquee actor that he is then the first instance imo was clearly kiss kiss bang bang

What a coincidence, watched that movie again on Sunday. Fun little flick.



V, last night was romcom night: The Proposal. Pretty enjoyable pic, some funny moments. They could have chopped out a few bits though, because even at only 105 min., it does outstay its welcome a little bit.

Titanic to be relaunched in 3D but James Cameron warns 'don't expect another Avatar'


Film director James Cameron is planning to relaunch his hit movie Titanic in cinemas - this time in 3D.

The Oscar-winner will oversee the conversion of the 1997 hit, following the huge success of his ground-breaking 3D film Avatar.

Special effects will be added to the Leonardo DiCaprio flick using the latest computer technology. This will be made easier by the fact many of the interior and exterior shots were digitally generated in the first place.
