It's not amazing, it's just not as typical as other films.
How is it not typical? As far as I remember, it's a pretty straightforward chase thriller / horror. Not particularly bad, not particularly good.

Finally got around to watching Inglourious Basterds myself. It's good, very good even. Not quite Tarantino's best, but definitely a return to form. I was especially impressed with (the beginning of) Chapter 5. Smart use of the soundtrack as well. Some plot lines could have used a little more screen time though, while other scenes dragged on a little.

He had written it as a miniseries at one point, and I think a little of that still shines through, particularly with the Basterds, who are all but irrelevant in their own movie.

That does explain why the movie is so terribly uneven. I read somewhere that he was planning on making some kind of prequel as well, but that doesn't seem to be happening after all. Looks like he's going to make another intstallment of Kill Bill instead. Not something I'm particularly thrilled about.

But Kill Bill was awful.
Hence me not being particularly thrilled about that :D

I wouldn't say it was awful though. From what I remember Vol.1 was really good, while Vol.2 was a (big) disappointment.
I'm gonna watch them again in the near future though, since I remember very little of the 2nd one. Very possible that my opinion has changed in the meantime.

Død snø - A Norwegian horror flick about Zombie Nazis (or were it Nazi Zombies, not quite sure). I had read some positive things about this movie, but I was a tad disappointed. For the most part, this was nothing more than a mediocre zombie flick. That being said, the final 20 min were really entertaining & did make up for a lot of the boring stuff that I had to endure in the 1st hour.

The Boat That Rocked. I think I just might have found (one of) my favourite movie(s) of all time. It's got pretty much everything I love about life, or should I say everything I would want life to be. I wish I was born in 1952. :depressed

Harry Brown: A pretty enjoyable movie but certainly not worth all the hype that was around it while Michael Cain's performance was class indeed.

Awesome movie if there was one. Fun throughout. If you saw it with dvd, and not pirated, see the deleted scenes, they are fun too.

Bluray isnt worth it yet to go all on it terms of making it a regular habit. Plus saw this movie a while back.
That would be true couple of years ago, but nowadays a full-HD 42-46" plasma can be bought, and I mean a good one, for around 1000€ and then BluRay is very much worth it. :agree:
