Currently watching The Gambler. Going to watch Inherent Vice after. I'm a massive PT Anderson fan and it has a great cast like all of his movies do.

edit: Really liked The Gambler John Goodman and Jessica Lange were amazing.

Days of Heaven - Just decent in my opinion. I didn't like how they jumped from nothing to married and how some scenes just vanished. I also think ending is quite shit.

Cinematography is nice, as with most Malick films, but the film itself is mediocre at best. And you're right about the ending. Shit.

Ye, I agree. But all his other movies (that I've seen) had much more than just, hence just decent imo.

I'm gonna watch The Imitation Game or American Sniper tonight.

Have you seen anything by Jacques Audiard? His last few films have been fantastic. The Beat My Heart Skipped; A Prophet; Rust and Bone. Highly recommend them. The last one, Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenaerts are brilliant in the lead roles.

Really looking forward to his next film also. Erran. I hope it shows at one of the film festivals I go to this year.

Psyched to see this film next to year. Thomas Hardy was one of my favourite writers when I was young, and this was one of my favourite books. Thomas VInterberg as the director is pretty cool choice too.

Read My Lips. I forgot that Audiard directed that. It's really good too. Vincent Cassel is one of my favourite actors.

I think I posted it in the thread before, but Leviathan is in my top 3 films for 2014. I highly recommend all of Andrei Zvyagintsev's films. One of the best directors post-2000.

I have not seen seen Whiplash yet, but I shall definitely do so. Simmons is an underrated actor.

Damn, great!

You're gonna be delighted with Simmons, he was phenomenal and flawless. IMO he can easily be the best performing actor in 2014. The whole movie is good though. It's intensive and full of twits, really enjoyable even for those who have no knowledge of music.
