Tuz took a collective break from watching movies, huh?
No, but I/we've stopped posting about them. Saw one that you're familiar with over the weekend: Blinkende Lygter. Was ok, but I didn't love it. Expected it to be better. Mikkelsen is great in this kind of role(s) though. Adam's Apples remains the best one I've seen of that director. And I don't think I'll be checking out more of his movies anytime soon.

And to keep up with the popular faces of today: Ides of March was really good, I thought. Also watched The Hunger Games, which was decent enough in its genre. No wonder her part in Winter's Bone got Lawrence cast in this one.

Visioneers: Intriguing & original, but ultimately very boring.

Dazed and Confused: Sure took me long enough to watch this. Loved it, despite some pretty major editing flaws & lack of narrative.

Side Effects is the biggest lump of dog shit I've ever had the misfortune to witness :sergio:
That surprises me. Seems like an interesting movie, when you look at the subject matter & people involved.

Yeah, I watched the green butchers a while ago. I'd say that one is slightly better. Maybe it's the language barrier, but I don't think blinkende lygter was funny, except 2 or 3 moments. I probably just don't really get it.

I was honestly counting down the minutes from the start though. It does absolutely nothing to grab the attention. Maybe the subject matter is more interesting in countries other than my own where the common use of prescription medicine for depression/stress is more prevalent, I just couldn't relate :boh:
Side Effects was pretty bad, I like Rooney Mara, but that's about the only positive I could find.
As shallow as it sounds, that certain scene involving her at about the midway point was the only thing that stopped me walking out early :klin:

Just watched Gangster Squad. Thought it was a solid movie. Nothing entirely stand out about it, but it's entertaining and put together well.

Definitely not The Untouchables as far as crime films go. Definitely a better effort than the other recent films covering post-WWII LA. Most notably The Black Dahlia and Hollywoodland.

The Black Dahlia case was pretty creepy.

Have you played LA Noire?

I thought it was quite good. Sad, maybe, but so is life. (I know a few people who have died in the past year.)
It was a great movie, I agree. But I wrote the previous statement halfway through the movie so that isn't why I thought it was sad. :D

Just the way Mary and Max have very sad lives and how they find happiness in the smallest things. One of the most touching movies out there imo.
