Yeah, could be interesting.
Half through writing it i changed my mind and ended up writing it about 'Easy Rider', which if you want to read i would be happy to send. (i also recently wrote an essay on Donnie Darko and another on Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet & Lost Highway if they take your fancy)

No but you still haven't told me if you were ok with sending your essay on the decline of the ottoman empire to me?
Of course im more than happy to do that, i will also pm you nearer the time for some guidance as it appears to be an area you know a lot more about than i. I am writing an essay on religion and politics in the middle east for the 18th which might be about turkey or iran if you are interested in that.

Unbelievably boring! but yeah there were a few laughs here and there at the stupidity :D
I reasonably enjoyed it, but this review offers an interesting perspective on it as a criticism of comedies which use mental health problems as the core of their humour. I think he's reading a bit too much into it, but it's a neat way to think about it.

Seth Rogen usually makes me laugh but he wasn't that funny this time, would you consider Napoleon Dynamite as a similar type of comedy?

Not really. They're both quite pleasant imo. There is this prejudice that the original must always be better, which gives a lot of people knee jerk reactions.
It is. Though you have a point in the original/remake statement, here it doesn't stand. Why? Because the remake wanted to be too much and in the end it sort of got lost. The original is like 45 minutes shorter and tells a better story with more tension and better character development. Not to mention there is a lot more emotion to the characters. Departed was too stretched and it took away from the movie itself.

Just watched IA and it's soooooooooooooooooooooooo >>>>>>> Departed.
Don't agree with that.

I thought the remake was better just for the fact that it's much more than the original. I don't agree that IA has better character development either.
Infernal Affairs to me is just a regular movie, not bad, not good.
It may have something to do with the fact that I'm not a big fan of Asian cinema in general though. I think it's usually somewhat overrated.

Anyway, I watched Alfred Hithcock's "I Confess" last night. Good movie with an interesting premise, but it hasn't aged well. Some of the more bombastic moments edged pretty close to being funny rather than tense.

Not a fan of Asian cinema either. In fact, that was the biggest drawback from the movie for me. They talk too freaking fast. Sometimes they say two words and it's translated as an 8 words sentence. :p

I don't know, I felt a lot more emotions in Lau and Yan, then I did in Costigan and Sullivan. And overall the plot in my opinion was much more suited for the Triad, than Irish mob. The only thing departed has over IA is IMO some humorous scenes, mainly due to Jack. Departed was too Hollywood-ized.

Not that I didn't enjoy Departed, but I feel it isn't all that, and certainly not one Scorcesse whould have won an Oscar for, like many said before.

That, I can agree with. Don't recall who he was up against though, so maybe there were no better options at the time.

Watched Up In The Air before few days, really enjoyed the film. Pretty predictable, but classy. Just finished downloading From Paris With Love, I don't have high expectations on this one, but wanted to see Travolta.

I actually haven't seen Napoleon Dynamite.

I watched The Seventh Seal last night. Wonderful - like the Coens adapted a lost Shakespearean play.
