Your personal viewpoints and how you display them can be completely different items. Perhaps, you are merely just arrogant, but arrogance is often mistaken for other traits.

While I agree that you display an arrogance many are not accustomed to. You have to realize that it can be seem by others as something else.
I am aware of that, i just have never really had an interest in what other people have thought of me (do i look like the kind of person that does?)...probably why i seem like such a cunt when i get into arguments. I will work on that.

Good man. I'm sure some forum members will appreciate that. :D

Though there are times when your brand of reply is needed.

I haven't seen a "good" movie (one I really really liked) since I saw The Hurt Locker (this past summer).
The Hurt Locker is good and entertaining, but that's about as far as it goes. It's certainly not a great film by any stretch, but I do like watching it from time to time.

It's probably the best film I've seen in a long time. It's won about every critical award available. It won't win an Oscar because its independent and not a huge box office success.

It's much better, and it is a great film.

If you had close friends that were in Iraq or Afghanistan you might identify with it better.
I don't really consider that a fair comment. Seems like more of a personal jibe than anything else. Human life is human life. And I'm not saying it's a poor film -- it is actually somewhat eye-opening.

But I thought Jarhead did a better job of taking those thoughts of a solider and putting them into your head as a viewer. It certainly made me ponder what it would be like as a soldier over there. And by no means was it a pleasant experience, which I consider to be the point of it.

Then you probably need to watch Deer Hunter.

It's not meant to be a personal jibe, the two films come from two different points of view.

Jarhead is about a guy who trains for a long time to do a job he never can or is allowed to and how he treats the down time.

The Hurt Locker hits much closer to the way my friends are and how they have changed, I mean after all, not only are they different wars and time periods, but the current war is 1000X longer, and still going.

Hitting closer to home doesn't necessarily constitute it as being the better, or even a great, film.

I simply thought Jarhead did a better job of infiltrating my head.

Not everyone is a bomb technician.

The movie isn't about bomb technicians.

Just as Jarhead isn't about Marine Snipers.

Jarhead was meant for the average viewer as well, The Hurt Locker was meant for those that have more complex issues or have dealt with it in a more hands-on way.
Just a difference of opinion I suppose. And I'm not saying that the film is limited to just folks with experience in roadside bombs.

You know what? I ain't never gonna watch another Cosby Show episode. Here you have this black family, the husband is this loveable doctor, the wife is an incredibly succesful lawyer and the kids are the perfect children, one child more loveable than the other. Not only the children but their friends as well, all funny and cute. Especially that Kenny kid, he's awesome. Then you have Peter.

He's the only white kid in the show and boy, is he a character. Small, fat and retarded. He's so stupid, he doesn't even wanna talk. He can talk, he's not deaf or dumb, he just don't wanna. All he does is smile and have a piece of chocolate in his mouth at all times.

I won't be having none of that racist crap no more.

Is this treat me like a stupid cunt week or something? Have you all forgotten how to read?

You asked me what was shallow.

I told you that his analyses was shallow, and then explained why it was shallow because of how i have been taught and how i am used to films being analysed, its not fucking difficult to understand is it?
I think you need to relax, man. No one is out to get you.

That being said, you have called me shallow twice now & I won't have it :andy2:

Seriously though, I don't watch movies to analyse them (at least not in depth), I watch movies because I enjoy doing so. It's a hobby for me.
If you think that the story "the Wrestler" depicts hasn't been told before, then that's fine by me. Just don't expect me to agree with that.
But you do have to admit that it's rather funny that the filmmakers admit to telling a clichéd story you've seen time and time again, while you are saying they don't.

The story of The Wrestler has been told before. Raging Bull is probably the most famous one out there.

I don't think it's of any importance to have a new story no one has ever told. It's all about the way you tell your story. You might screw a noble idea while recounting it and you might on the other hand, make a masterpiece out of a cliched story.
