Do tell your opinion ;)
Just finished watching Interstellar. I'm left with a lot to say but i don't feel like writing a book right now so i'll going straight to the point.

First, it's nothing like Space Odyssey or Solaris for that matter like many people i personally know made comparisons, they were absolutely wrong.

I felt it tried too hard - and apparently succeeded - at explaining and pointing out every little event, not letting the viewer think for himself; to consider things, to wonder and to have his own interpretation about them. The story wasn't bad but i simply didn't get attached to any of the characters, too many cliches. Nolan is a good director but even his attempts with the robot and his jokes completely failed to get a positive reaction from me. Maybe i kept thinking about HAL and it's hard to live up to that kind of expectation.

Visually it's beautiful. There's nothing bad to be said about this area. Although i expected a better soundtrack, it was very forgettable. From all the talk about it i kept expecting to have my mind blown. Even the idea of that paradox has been seen in dozens of other movies. And i've seen it done much more creatively like in Los Cronocrímenes, for example.

It certainly isn't a masterpiece, far from it. It's a good movie for a blockbuster that tried to do a little something more than the norm. And for the general viewer that's more than enough.

Edge of tomorrow- for a Tom Cruise sci-fi movie i thought this was great. I loved the computer game style of dying, restarting and learning/finding something new.

Casino Royale - It was nice. I actually like Daniel Craig as a James Bond.

Skyfall - I liked it better than the previous one. Pretty good action movie.

GoldenEye - Ok, I did not like this one. I get that every James Bond movie has to deal with exaggeration, gadgets, women, style. This one had exaggeration and nothing else. Not to mention that I pretty much hate Pierce Brosnan who even reminds me of Steven Seagal. But that scene when he jumps to catch an airplane was just... no.

John Wick - Brainless action. But if you want to see a movie where a 50yo Keanu Reeves kicks ass then this is it. Headshot, headshot, headshot -- bang. It was never about the plot anyway, so it's a nice waste of time I guess.

Big Hero 6 - I loved the robot, he was epic and made me laugh.

Sunset Blvd. - old but like wine.

Deux jours, une nuit - Pretty great movie. Marion Cotillard did an amazing job as a main actress.

I think that just arrived on Sky Movies, I'll have to record it.

Frances Ha - arty, whimsical stuff, charming enough

Hummingbird - Statham action movie with a softer, incredibly flawed side

Honestly, I always found that side of Bond to be cringeworthy at best, and it's even worse with particularly smarmy actors like Brosnan and Roger Moore.

I think Daniel Craig has probably nailed it. My mother agrees with you btw, @icemaη :D

I wonder how Idriss Elba will do.

Idriss Elba (2011) “I just don’t want to be the black James Bond,” Elba said. “Sean Connery wasn’t the Scottish James Bond and Daniel Craig wasn’t the blue-eyed James Bond, so if I played him, I don’t want to be called the black James Bond.”

Would be awesome if he did it. Always thought Hugh Jackman would make a great Bond too.

Anyway. I saw Kingsman on my last night in Phnom Pehn. The best thing I could say about it would be that it's "a bit of fun". Bits and pieces were funny and entertaining but as a whole it's a pretty piss poor film. Ridiculously, it's based on a fairly controversial theory on climate change.

Watched it yesterday , i agree with the final assesment , it was a blockbuster movie . I must disagree on the soundrack though , I thought it was great . What i also disliked was how things just happened with little to no explanation . I have seen movies that can pull this off , but this one didn't do it for me . I know that they can't start explaining physics in the movie , but they should have made it more believable .
With this I mean the we lost x years or when he was in the black hole sending the messages to the past . I felt that plot point was actually pretty obvious from the start of the movie (also having seen other sci-fi , it is pretty common) , I just think they could have handled it much better .

That said I liked the movie overall .

To be fair Daniel Craig was 'the blonde James Bond', it caused a bit of media attention here at the time because he wasn't dark haired, also that people didn't think he was particularly good looking, which I kind of agree with.

I've no idea about Connery as it was obviously before my time, but Brosnan is Irish and Lazenby Australian. So I suspect Elba would have to put up with being 'the black James Bond' for a while, simply because of his skin colour. You can't hide from the visual aspect.

I liked it too but masterpiece? Hell no. Best sci fi movie ever made? Not even close. The opening scene alone in Space Odyssey has more enriching content in a profound symbolic way than this whole movie has to offer. And yes, i agree, the plot was very obvious from the very beginning.

As i said there wasn't a single moment where i thought "wow, this just blew my mind". Even exploring the "unknown" i expected something exciting, instead we get cliches.

Superior beings that turned out they were us who could control time and space and evolved to a higher state and a higher dimension? Fuck that. This already been covered by Star Treak and many other Sci fi shows.
There was nothing original or intriguing about it, apart from the nice visual, it felt empty with nothing but the sameness.

A movie made for a generation that thinks Guardians of The Galaxy is a great movie. It's easy to understand why it's rated so highly.
