If people make satire of me for say, having a big nose. I don't get all fresh about it. And that's a physical feature much like the colour of the skin. We call Zlatan a gypsy camel all the time. DOUBLE STANDARDS!!

No, it's a classic example of double standards.

But still.. it surprises me, but I wouldn't protest.
Standards have now been set, and that is a good thing.

I hope the fans I know and respect will show support by attacking racism within it's own ranks.

This is not about Juventus and Inter, it is bigger than that.

President Cobolli Gigli also commented on their appeal against an order to play against Lecce behind closed doors as punishment for the racist chanting at Inter’s Mario Balotelli.

“There is no contradiction between the apology we made on Sunday and the appeal Juventus have made against the ban,” insisted the chief.

“It would be wrong to pull out of the appeal, because all clubs have to make sure their rights are respected and that treatment is equal with similar instances in the past. If the appeal is rejected, then that is fine too.

The Bianconeri supporters are not generally known for their racist attitude, so the abuse hurled at Balotelli came as a surprise.

“Juventus are doing everything to fight racism and following UEFA’s guidelines. We need to adjust the regulations that punish the clubs and do not want to go down in the history books as an example of what happened.

“We are not repeat offenders and I can say with absolute good faith that the insults were heard clearer on television than in the stadium. None of us in the stands where I was sitting realised what was happening.

“We left at the end of the game and chatted to Inter director Paolillo, so I doubt they noticed either.”

Ultras to Balotelli: "We're not racist" Tuesday 21 April, 2009

The Juventus ultras group Drughi have released a statement explaining why their insults towards Mario Balotelli “were not racism and we won’t apologise.”

The club has been hit by a one-match ban behind closed doors after supporters in the Curva Filadelfia repeatedly hurled racist insults at Inter striker Balotelli during Saturday’s 1-1 draw.

Juve released a statement apologising for this behaviour, but now the Drughi Ultras have issued their own Press release.

“We will not apologise to Balotelli, because the chants against him were a response to his provocation and general attitude on the pitch and not with regards to his origins,” announced the Drughi-Juventus Club Curva Filadelfia.

“This is evident by the fact that his teammates Patrick Vieira and Sulley Muntari were not even jeered at all.

“For years now in almost every stadium Juve are greeted by chants of 'Liverpool, Liverpool’, while the names of (deceased former players) Gaetano Scirea, Riccardo Neri, Alessio Ferramosca and Daniele Fortunato have been used and abused in every conceivable way, yet the media was never indignant about that.

“Racism is nothing to do with this and it was only a way, albeit debatable, to make our opponent lose his concentration,” insisted the Drughi group of fans.

“We would like to point out in our squad is an 'ebony icon’ Momo Sissoko, who we hold in our hearts and are proud that he wears our shirt.

“This is why we do not feel the need to apologise. Juve-Lecce will be played behind closed doors because it had already been decided.

“Instead of a lesson in efficiency and because you cannot warn an entire stadium, the authorities opted for the radical solution.”

I believe them when they say they dont do it because they are racists, but they are still idiots for doing it. Instead of make grand statements, they simply shouldnt just not racially abuse a player, its even more retarded to do it when you arent a "racist".

There are other ways to express your dislike for him. They boo Zlatan insanely loudly, why not do the same with this snotty kid.

Wait, so you can call someone a nigger without it being racist? That's a new one.:melayyanandmessi:

Bottom line, those idiots that call themselves Juve fans were using racial insults against a player fully knowing their insults were racist. That was the intent, Balotelli was doing well so they made racist insults. How is that so hard to see? Drughi should be banned.

The act itself is racist, defenitely, but they wouldnt need to lie, because their kinda behaviour is really not so shunned in Italy (had first hand experience of bit too open bigotry there), I mean their intent werent prolly because they are racists as they said, but them using it as a weapon to provoke him/get to him (compared to the certain Lazio ultra who make monkey chants against their own players in introduction...). Sadly nothing new in that thinking, and pretty fucking idiotic shit.
