Lol I was planning on putting money for Uruguay to win the Copa America now im hoping for Messi to pull it off.

Will be hilarious to see CR7 fanboys go "muh Copa Murica iz Thunday Leegue cumpered 2 D Eurow", when this nigga won the Euro facing Hungary, Austria, Iceland, Poland, Wales, and France (without CR7) to win da damn thing haha

Messi > Ronaldo slightly, but neither is a GOAT for me. Ronaldo lacks the footballing ability and Messi lacks the mentality and big game moments.

The fact that they have one World Cup knockout goal between them says it all.

There has never been another footballer as good as either of them.
I don't deny that they're the best players of my lifetime and maybe the best that have ever played so far, but I just can't consider either a 'GOAT.'

Someone with Ronaldo's dribbling, control, and playmaking can't be a GOAT and someone always walking with as little effort as Messi and with so many big game disappointments can't be a GOAT either.

how can they not be GOATs if they are the best so far? you cant account for the future yet

yeah, you're clearly talking about today's versions of those players. show me a footage of your so called "GOAT's" playing at age 34 like Ronaldo does? and discriminating Ronaldo's playmaking and dribbling, there's a big dilemma on it; he can play as a LW and get past the players even at 34, he did it this season and managed to crab couple assists here and there, but why on earth he would spend his time in there when he should be finishing in the box? he's so good at the box, he's so good at heading the ball that there's not any reason to play him anywhere else on the pitch, even he would clearly be capable of doing so. Messi in other hand has limited physique, so he has no reason to patrol around the box before the ball is close to that area, therefore he's little bit more involved on the build up, but he will always be the guy with closest the goal when that whole ball posession attack needs to be finished.

you said your lifetime, which means you ain't very old, which means you have very limited views of seeing this game as a game. instead, you're just cherry picking some of those "qualities" from these 2 GOATS at the end of their careers, which is always misleading because people tend to forget how good they actually were when they were at their prime. there's absolutely nobody coming close to these two and the biggest arguement you have is the nostalgic aspect of ranking all time greats, where most of the people who are born in the 70s will always say it's maradona, no matter how many goals some of the current generation players scored or how many trophies they won, you won't change it.

if you're here to argue, atleast give some proper reasoning behind because without a reason, your arguement is invalid.

What these two have over other GOATs is their longevity, but that is as much due to modern training methods, equipment, diet and changes in the game as it is due to their freak endurance (they both didnt suffer (m)any serious injuries, like for example ADP and Brazils Ronaldo did in 98). If you ignore longevity and take ones peak as the main talking point (as it should be), there is an argument to be made for a lot of other players throughout history

Not sure if that’s true, other players get injured all the time. Look at Neymar, Robben, etc.

These two are freaks. And their peaks are amazing, the only bad thing is that they don’t have a WC but that competition gets overrated anyways.

There is exceptions ofcourse, and i did say one of the reasons is that theyre freaks.

WC isnt overrated, it used to be one hell of a tournament. You dont need to go further than 2006, take a look at the squads of the top 7-8 teams and compare it to the last 10 or so years. Even some of the tier 2 teams were great. That Messi cant win now with NT competitions declining so much is bad, especially when hes been on a top 4-5 team his whole career. Atleast Ronaldo has the excuse of playing for an underdog NT majority of his career, and he got 2 titles out of it (EURO is as good as WC. Edit: was as good/better, when they were 16 teams participating)
