And if he's cheap Benatia is a great fit for that role, especially considering that we're gonna need a Barzagli replacement in a year or two, when he decides to hang up his boots and find the cure for cancer instead. And we're gonna need four top class CBs for a three man backline.

We just shouldn't overpay, but if he's offered to us on a good deal he would be a great addition.
That means bye bye rugani which is stupid

    Benatia close to Juventus?
    By Football Italia staff

Reports suggest Medhi Benatia is close to agreeing a move from Bayern Munich to Juventus.

The former Roma centre-back is likely to leave Bavaria following the arrival of Mats Hummels, and the Bianconeri are known to be interested.

Now La Repubblica is reporting that a deal is very close, and could even be completed before this weekend.

The newspaper states that the two clubs have agreed on a valuation of €20m, but are debating over whether that should be up-front, or a €2m loan with an €18m obligation to buy, based on appearances.

Relations between the two clubs are good after the Kingsley Coman loan deal last summer, which is why Bayern are so willing to negotiate with the Old Lady.

For his part, Benatia is reportedly willing to drop his wage from €2.2m to €2m in order to push the deal from, but he could ask for guarantees about playing time.

It’s likely he would be rotated with Andrea Barzagli, as the Italy defender is 35 now and has suffered injury problems in recent years, as has Benatia.

    Benatia
    CM
    CF
    De Sciglio?
    Sub Neto?

    That's pretty much the mercato.
More SS for me than CF. Ok wih Zaza being backup for Mandukic, but Dybala is going to need a stellar backup.

They do need another central defender though. Having four in a 3-5-2 formation is asking for trouble. Do they need a Benatia quality 5th CB? Probably not. That is a little too pricey, unless the price is just too good to pass up
That is of course if you consider an outright buy. If this is a loan, it's like a purchase next year when Barzagli is 36 and effectively becoming a rotation player. If the deal is on the market, we should make it, coz Benatia at 18m, is as good as it will get. He's at the right age, has the experience, and more importantly reduces the pressure on Rugani, without making us lose too much when Rugani has to play alongside Bonnucfi and himself.

Would be a good deal overall. 20m is not much for a player with his experience. the question is, will he be able to go back to his roma form ?
It's a great price in today's market. Has a Beppe like deal written all over it. He will recover that form playing in the Serie a coz the league suits him, and Juve is the ideal environment to take him back to the level he was at Roma. On his day, the best defender in the world.

Agreed. The prospect of Benatia's arrival is very exciting and should his transfer to us come to fruition, he would almost certainly get a lot of starts as we will probably end up playing around 60 matches between August 2016 and May 2017. Injuries, suspensions and tactical rotation will see him get a lot of game time.

So it's okay to have two players for one position at RB/LB but another CB is too much even though we play with 3CBs?
