Juve's trio is not Mane - Firmino - Salah. We've got 34yo Ronaldo, 32yo Higuain and Dybala who isn't the best when it comes to defending or even covering the ground.
What Juve needs badly is Costa and Ramsey getting back to their level. Then you rotate the trident. If shit hits the fan, you deploy all of them but this should happen occasionally.

Bernardeschi is hopeless, so I don't even mention him.

You misunderstood me. I don't blame the trio for the loss. Not at all. Regardless of that, I don't think it's sustainable to play them that often. You'd need 3 prime Vidals to make it work. Or just steal Liverpool's midfield.

The trio is not sustainable because:
- they're too old (not enough workrate),
- all of them are central players, which forces CMs to play wider (and that leaves the midfield open if they loose the ball),
- when the ball is lost, they're too slow to track back, which leaves the midfield easy to penetrate. Too much space is left,
- when all of them play, there's no option on the bench to impact the game with a sub,
- they end up tired after a couple of games, because this setup costs everybody a lot of energy.


Before we looked unbalanced because Bernardeschi is horrible (basically we'd play with 10 men). Also, Ronaldo was injured. Costa and Ramsey are never available (even if they are on the bench, they're not ready to play).

I wouldn't call my previous post an overreaction tbh I expected the loss here. I knew the team would be tired after Samp and that they'd look heavy and lethargic. I hoped for a better defensive display and some magic from the trio to steal a boring 1-0 here, but well.

He can't find balance b/c he keeps benching one of the tridet for friggin' Bernadeschi. Also, no matter who plays left back and LCF you won't find balance if that shitty footballer Matuidi is stuck between the two of you. That dude is a mini-controled thermonuclear warhead to any game plan we want to have.

Rotate occassionaly the trident (for example, Higuain looks tired). If Costa can stay fit, that addresses that. If you have a fit Can or Rabiot then its criminal to start Blaise.

Keeping Bernie and Matuidi on the bench is the best thing you can do to this team.

Yessss exactly my thoughts when I was updating the stat thread. How can you have that much possession and have less shots and still concede 3?

IMHO our main problem yesterday was that Lazio just break their team in two and launch long balls at the back of our MF and our zone defense let a huge gap for them to play as they pleased. For instance all that Klopp genious with Van Dijk it has a lot to do with how the defense pushes really hard the ball when anyone try to counterattack them.

We have the players to do it but Sarri keep pushing for that zonal denfense that it can be so easily broken with this childish tactics.

possession and passing is useless, unless you have plenty of vertical passes. and that is rarely presented in the stats.

i don't have any idevice at my disposal, but if you do, you can install the statszone app, it should have a very detailed pass stat including the direction of the passes. i bet lazio beat us in forward passes. also, their first 2 goals included accurate crosses within our penalty area, which meant very poor defending from our fullbacks.

Those vertical passes will come when you get the clowns like Matuidi out of the lineup. You need more technical players in midfield. Also, whatever happened to Pjanic? He is regressing and its frusrating, I wanna see him make more forward thinking passes. Even Bonucci makes more of those...

I love how people try to rubbish Lazio as some mediocre team.

Every one one of their midfielders would walk into our starting lineup. And the way Lazzari and Lulic played as wingbacks put our fullbacks to shame. Not to mention the fact that they are well-drilled, organised and have a game-plan against us. Inzaghi is doing wonders as a coach.

As if they even gave the slightest fuck about the EL when they have a very real possibility in not just securing a top 4 spot, but challenging for the title too. They are currently the in-form team in Italy.

Actually they do look like idiots when they rubbish Lazio as a mediocre team. It makes our defeats even worse.

I always praise the teams that beat us, because honestly a fluke can happen once a year or so, but usually it gotta be a pretty great performance to do so. Respect to Lazio.

You sure know that if it was up to me, we wouldn't have signed the chimney in the first place, but now that he is here, we have to give him a chance. He's leading the table (together with Inter) and topped his CL group. That is more than i expected from him at this point of the season. Losing the Supercoppa is not much of a problem either for me, as it is a glorified friendly in my eyes. However, how we lost it is making me angry. But overall i doubt the management is looking into new managers just yet, we are more or less on course.

For now, i just hope he ditches the 4312 nonsense asap. You (generally speaking) may argue it's getting us results, but you can't possibly argue it's well suited for the set of players we have available. Lot's of times have we looked predictable/toothless and shaky at the back at the same time, bailed out only by some Dybala magic.
It's too narrow, and the way we set up our fullbacks (especially Alex Sandro) isn't helping either. If he only could overcome his stubborness and try a back three...

In short: I will reserve my new coach talk for until we eventually fall behind Inter in the table. In the meantime, i just hope he can sort his shit out. Max i can't see coming back, Pep i of course would have taken over Sarri, but not really eager on seeing him and his run-into-the-open-knife stile of football at Juve either. Inzaghi i would take, and if it only were to trigger Badass.
