It's incredible how well we are taking the ball down the middle now.

First goal was a Cuads pass right down to the center of the box.

Cuads also had that through ball to Ronaldo, which was a 1v1 with the GK that his missed. Also, Dybala was able to thread the needle in the middle for the Ronaldo goals.

We do well on the wings, too. Cuads had that great cross across the box but Higuain took his sweet time Conversely, on the other side, that cross from Higuain from that lovely pass from Sandro was also fantastic, too bad Ronaldo missed that chance too.

Game could have easily been 5-0. We are threatening on the wings with friggin Higuain even, that says a lot. Our play down the middle is lovely too. Can't forget that work with Higuain to Bernie as well.

Things are looking good.

Calma.

I’m not the biggest Sarri fan nor a hater but I’ll say this if he manages to beat Conte’s Inter he will deserve some credit and the haters should shut up for a while. Imo this Inter is the most difficult Serie A adversary since 11-12 Milan.

Will be a good test.

Team is starting to fire on more cylinders lately. Had two clean sheets which is also nice but we play a tough team away so lets see. This Inter team is no joke, at least not right now LoL

Of course I’m happy with the result so I’m not complaining BUT Leverkusen was a mediocre adversary. They offered no danger, they constantly lost the ball and looked extremely shaky at the back. I’m actually glad we still haven’t faced any of the big boys in the CL cause we’re not gelled enough yet. As expected we’re improving, slowly but surely and so far Sarri is delivering.

Less open matches in the league (tighter defenses). I think that is slowly changing. That's my theory.

Well, they had much better possession in the first half, had us chasing the ball a lot. We seem to be making better chances and looks like we are starting to capitalize on those more too.

You wont see many chances like last night in Serie A. I cant recall when was the last time we had our player 1 on 1 with a keeper, through the middle. But I do recall those kind of chances more frequently in CL. This doesnt take away anything from Sarri ofc, its just defending and mentality is different. A real test will be this Sunday..

CL is almost always more open than the league. As the players starting growing more accustomed to the new tactics and start gelling more (staying healthy too) the better we will get offensively.

the '17-18 scudetto ahead of napoli wasn't a walk in the park either, but i agree with your point. beating inda in milano would mark an almost perfect first 10 match introduction to sarrismo.

btw so far i'm getting from sarri what i expected. a bit more of possession, some quicker passing, and some more naive defensive work. i still hope we'll fix the latter as "the best defense wins the league" is basically an axiom in italy.

Our squad is miles above any other club in Italy. It's our match/league to lose tbh. But then again, the low expectations continue to ring increasingly louder.

We have the best squad in the league by a country mile. Beating this Inter should be a walk in the park. The scudetto is the absolute minimum this season. The success of this season entirely depends on CL, and that is what Sarri will be given credit for, not for beating domestic rivals in this “tinpot league” as it is so often described here.

@Dru the lowered ambitions are real.

You also expected he won't rotate or show any tactical flexibility.

Disagree. It's the first time in a LONG ass time another team has the best the defence in the league. Winning it every year has spoiled us and you're just proving it. We finally have an adversary that can actually defend and we know how capable Conte can be domestically. It'll NOT be a walk in the park and Sarri will deserve credit if he can find a way around Conte's system.

Obviously we're still expected to win it and go as far as we can in the CL. That goes for any coach managing this team and goes without saying really.

I know you're obviously still mad Allegri is gone and we got Sarri as replacement but time to move on. Sarri is what we have now and yes he'll be facing a much harder adversary than Allegri ever did in Serie A. Obviously Allegri proved himself in Europe taking us to two finals, I honestly doubt Sarri can do that but we'll see.

They are not stronger than Sarri's Napoli.that Napoli would murder this Inter.
But their mentality is stronger because of Conte. They will continue winning games playing shity football.the exact sign of champions.

The only problem they have , they can collect 90 points and still lose the league.
