Jokes aside, people were attached to Conte and we didn't play very well under Max at the beginning. We weren't as dull as in 2019/20, but we were boring. Many didn't like Allegri. Before that return leg against Dortmund in Germany, we weren't doing any better than we are right now. In serie A we had 54 pts after 23 rounds (same as today). In CL we barely made it through the group, we lost Super Coppa to Napoli and in Coppa Italia semis we lost the first leg at home to Fiorentina.
Then we destroyed Dortmund and we all started loving Allegri.

I don't expect that with Sarri, but I really really hope it will happen.
I get your point but I think this situation is different because Sarri is such a dislikable person (with an anti Juve history) so he gets no room for mistakes/ sympathy. Even the infamous Gol Di Muntari doesn't compare.

Also, expectations now are significantly higher the club has freakin Ronaldo and a CL or bust mentality. Things that seemed so far away in 2015.

So to sum up, I think Sarri is much less likely to win over Tuz in the way that Allegri did.

We played 3-5-2 under Max for the first few months, keeping things comfortable for the team, before he made the switch to 4-3-1-2 and the rest is history. I remember him saying at one point that this team was afraid and overly anxious about facing the Malmö and Copenhagen type teams in CL when he arrived, and just needing to be calmer and more self-assured of the their quality.

Those 54 points came in much more dominant fashion too. We had outscored our opponents 49-12 after match day 23. As opposed to 44-23 this year. CL group stage was a mess, but that was kind of to be expected, and we did have that insane Atlético to contend with that year.

This is true. After making two CL finals since then and after we bought Ronaldo, expectations are much higher.
I do think, though, that our 2014/15 team (at least the starting XI) was better than what we have today. Not player for player (even though I think the 14/15 team wins there too) but the team as a whole was better.
Our starting line up was: Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Bonucci, Chiellini, Evra; Marchisio, Pirlo, Vidal, Pogba; Tevez, Morata.

I agree but almost entirely because that midfield is so superior to the current one.

Only Ronaldo would have made the list out of all the current Juventus players. Which is sad.
Sandro of 16-18 would have too, but not the Sandro we’ve seen the last two seasons. His decline has been so disappointing.

Damn, it would have been amazing having a Ronaldo-Tevez from pairing with that midfield and Defense. We would have won three straight trebles.

Besides the obvious Ronaldo-Morata swap, Id say Alex Sandro and Pjanič are debatable (personally Id pick Evra and Pirlo), but for the rest theres hardly even a case to build.

Crazy how our 2015 team with half the wage budget is so much more complete than 2020 version.

Edit: the difference in wage bill is even more dramatic than a 100% increase, apparently we went from 118-122 (different sources) in 2014-15 to 294 in 2019-20. Thats fucked up

I’m a Pjanic fan, but even 16-17 Pjanic doesn’t make that side over Pirlo. While Pirlo had some weaknesses at that point in his career he still had so many strengths and was fantastic for us. Imagine Pirlo picking out Ronaldo with long balls and set pieces. :tuttosport: and a secondary benefit is that he was a player with the standing and authority to take our free kicks and not allow Ronaldo to waste them all. ;)

Sandro of 16-17 and part of 17-18 makes that side over Evra imo. But since then, nah. He’s mostly been gash.

We must've watched a different season then. That was by far Pirlo's worst for us and we played best football when he was injured and Marchisio played in his place. He wasn't that good offensively anymore and a traffic cone on defense. 16/17 Pjanić was our best player in CL, he was amazing.

Roster personnel parity is a fun exercise

Pjanic was incredible, in our two man defence. He was a top 5 CM in football that year. But for whatever reason, any time we’ve played a 3 man mid with him, he ghosts and plays terrible.

Pirlo was nowhere near as bad as you are saying. And nah. We didn’t play our best without him. That’s rubbish. He played both games against Real Madrid, and was fantastic.
