Allegri wouldn't have put this team in a better position than we are now, so no. He was great at putting in a creative gameplan against a superior opponent from time-to-time, but that ran out of gas in too many finals for us to want to repeat the same mistakes. Otherwise I'm not a fan of his player acquisition instincts and I only see him holding the club steady ... not improving it.
Right. That's how he averaged about 90+ points per season in his 5 years here by "putting a creative gameplan against superior teams". In his 5 years, we got eliminated against 1 inferior team and that was Ajax. And in that tie a lot went in their favor. Well guess what, we haven't had a chance to see how the coaches after him would have performed against superior teams because we have been eliminated against far, far inferior teams in the last 2 years.
He didn't run out of gas in finals. In 2015 he faced one of the strongest attacking trios in the history of this game. In 2017 he faced one of the greatest teams in the history of this game + greatest player ever in this competition. Those two CL runs were remarkable.
We Allegri defendants have his track record to point to. But i really would like to understand what makes you believe we would be in a similar position with him this season as coach. To the contrary, I think we would at least be leading the table in serie A and probably would have advanced to the QFs in the CL.

For style you got to go to shanzelize or milan but if we are talking about what's effective, that same "stagnation" won the WC with zero goals allowed in open play and Conte right now is sitting on top of our table using a 10 year old "stagnant style", in fact everyone has always known how he will set up and play..if you don't like max that's fine but the words "stagnant style" is asinine.
