Should be our first and most important priority this summer. I keep giving the Hamsik example. He was/is leading the league in forward passes to the attack...imagine if Dries and Insigne had to drop back as often as Dybala does to get the ball...the simply move the ball forward better, We need that. It actually helps the defenses by keeping Higuain and Dybala further away from each other.

I'll agree with him individuals are way more important than focusing on tactics. However we don't have players at that extraordinaire level to rely on when the collective have no clear plan. Douglas Costa has been that guy lately but he can't do it all on his own. Brazil always managed to pull it off because of the sheer talent they had in the squad, 3,4 players who made all the difference. We have maybe... one?
So we end up not having the same pace or passing quality or attacking precision of most modern teams. Dybala is expected to be one of our stars but he's got too many weaknesses and is played out of what we believe is his best position.
Pjanic is clearly talented but plays in a midfielder with a headless chicken and a guy who can't run. (I blame Allegri on this for not giving Bentancur more playing time). And our defense is really a shadow of what we used to have...
So maybe Max isn't to blame or at least not the bigger problem but I really don't see our management breaking the bank and making a revolution on the next window. We need world class quality if we're to rely on individuals, not Sturaros.

I think every team that lets the forwards have more freedom they have a 3 man midfield. 2 Guys cant protect 4 up top. So we either bash Max for putting in Cuads and Mandzukic who help a ton on defense or we bash him for having Dybala come back. The answer and everyone knows it is have 3 in the middle that can give the front 3 freedom.
Now we have a bigger issue. Where does Dybala play in the front 3? not out wide. Maybe as the CF. Maybe have him as a wide guy thats actually more central or cut our width and have more of a Christmas tree type.
Dybala is incredible but he is limited in how and where he could play. I think for him to be world class he has to be a cf and Im not sure he could do that
This is the play style of at least half the players that are on the pitch.
Again, if you want to argue that he should bench Matuidi, Khedira, Mandzukic, Higuain, Barzagli and Pjanic then I am with you on that. If you are saying that he just needs to tell them to be better and they will be better then I disagree.
The amount of times I see Matuidi/Khedira receive a ball with their body not ready to move forward through the midfield just drives me crazy. They do not have the ability to break through the opponent.
It's not about how the players are, it's about what the players decide to do when they have the ball. They always opt to the least risky (usually least reward) choice.

I think he can, but Max needs to give him more PT (run of games) as a CF. Can't play them there once a month and expect him to light the world on fire.
Personally, I like the idea of a 4321 giving him the option to push forward or out wide.

I mean, that is completely and 100% up to the player. Most of the time it's because they are not good enough to complete an aggressive move. Lots of times you'll see Khedira or Matuidi get a ball between the lines of the opponent and they simply cannot take a touch in stride so they always pass sideways or backwards.
Matuidi drives me nuts in this scenario. Always, always passes to the corner flag when he receives a dangerous ball.
If you say, well play Bentancur or Berna there instead of Matuidi, then I would agree with you. Try some more technical players in different positions.
We've been playing cancerous football all season, which sometimes makes me want to hate Max. But in all fairness, it's hard to judge Allegri when considering the players at his disposal, especially in midfield.
One thing is for sure, his fitness team is definitely cack. We can't keep destroying ourselves like that.
