Allegri: 'You're ruining the game!'
Football Italia

Juventus boss Max Allegri had a very fiery interview with Sky Sport Italia after the 3-2 win over Inter. “Football isn’t just about tactics, you’re ruining the game.”

The Bianconeri were in front through Douglas Costa, then Matias Vecino saw red after 17 minutes, yet the 10 men turned it around through Mauro Icardi and an Andrea Barzagli own goal.

With two goals at the 87th and 89th minute, Juan Cuadrado and Gonzalo Higuain secured a 3-2 thriller for Juve.

“I think football was the winner, as we saw two teams battle it out to the end in front of a marvellous crowd,” said Allegri.

“Winning was important, we’ve taken another small step towards the Scudetto and need to win another three. Inter lost intensity towards the end and that was only natural in the circumstances.

“It was decisive today, because if we didn’t win, Napoli would’ve overtaken us with a victory in Florence. You never know what can happen in the final rounds.”

Allegri took some big risks with his tactics, using Juan Cuadrado as a right-back and dropping Paulo Dybala.

“I thought about it last Sunday. He did well and scored the goal. He got a couple of diagonal runs wrong, but we need to work on it.”

The Coach was sent off during the celebrations for the winning goal, as he ran on to the field to push and shake his players.

“They were all celebrating, there was still a while to go and we had to be concentrated. I didn’t want a repeat of Napoli and Real Madrid…”

The interview took a turn for the worse when he was asked if Juve should be dominating a game like this against 10 men after they drew with Crotone and lost to Napoli.

“We should’ve done more, undoubtedly. We can’t sit back and try to control a game, because then we fall asleep. Bringing home victories at this stage of the season is tough.

“At this moment, we are lacking sharpness. We should’ve found Mario Mandzukic and Douglas Costa between the lines, but when we went forward, we didn’t change gear.

“Last week was one of the worst games of the season, not just for us, but for Napoli too. Don’t tell me they played well, otherwise I may as well go…

“We played badly last week and against Crotone, but it’s not easy to win all the time. In 21 games we won 18, drew two and lost only one. Otherwise you expect us to get 170 points per season.

“How many campaigns have you seen? I’ve watched at least 40 and you cannot win every game. There are moments of the season and they must be understood.

“Football is becoming too much about theory and tactics, you’re ruining the game.”

When Allegri was asked why Juve were coasting along on the skills of individuals rather than having a coherent game plan, he really lost his temper.

“Do you watch basketball? A move lasts 24 seconds, you have the ball and have three seconds, so who do you give it to? The most talented player.

“You think that in football, made up of tackles, running and accurate passing, that systems win? So let’s pay for tactics and say Leo Messi is worthless! Same for Cristiano Ronaldo and Higuain.

“You don’t look at players or skills, but only systems, that is what’s damaging Italian football! A good defensive organisation does matter, but champions and their skills must be praised.

“But no, you go ahead and keep talking about tactics and don’t watch champions play. Yeah, well done.”

At one stage, Allegri was shouting so loudly that he was drowning out Inter Coach Luciano Spalletti, who was talking to Mediaset Premium down the corridor.

Spalletti, who like Allegri is from Tuscany, then shouted in Tuscan dialect that he should pipe down.
That's it... lets fire this guy... maybe alzheimer or something... Messi, CR7 and Pipa in the same sentence... Pipa is like the 8 best player just in our squad

Looks like it's going to be Dybala vs Allegri in a hell in a cell instead. Last minute booking changes :baus:
@Bianconero_Aus
Rightfully so imo
After last year crotone? You celebrate after you win.. not when you still 4 minutes before the game ends.

People think he is parking the bus. FFS what are you watching :howler: We had every attacker we own on the field, even one at fullback. We were in absolute shambles protecting a 1 goal lead for 5 minutes against 10 men. Where is this bus? We just have bad players who can't break the opponent.
Beside Cuads, and Costa, most of the team look disinterested

Horrible attitude displayed once again, sorry, I don't ask for fancy football or attacking football but you have to be looking to finish a game like this. Against Napoli we didnt even have a shot on target

Last minute of the match, 3 vs 3 in our box. Parked bus :howler:

Its ok MIke, calm down. We were playing like shid, and with maybe our best line up. We all know our players in the middle are a waste, maybe even Pjanic.

Still, We cannot be having this kind of showings week in week out. I know you want to say to the end that allegri doesnt have the players otherwise he would have 4 straight CLs, but is not the case. The guy has a lot do to with this.

We are stuck with him now because he is going nowhere it seems... i just hope something clicks next yar and he starts playing really aggressive at all times and not only when he is balls to the walls. Thats his fault and no one can convince me otherwise. We have seen this a lot

Next season its going to be either Allegri or Dybala and i'm firmly in the Dybala camp
:agree: I'm tired of Allegri's stale tactics and plethora of excuses. Disgusting performances against Crotone and Napoli followed up by this shit show last night, where we were 2-1 down to 10 man Inter :howler:

- - - Updated - - -

I'm not laying the blame squarely on him as clearly some of the players are either exhausted or simply not good enough, especially that midfield. Oh boy!

What excuses? All he says is that it's natural to have poor periods of form over the course of a season. He hasn't complained about the players he has, the fixture list, injuries, etc etc. The only thing Allegri has complained about is the obsession in the media over one set of tactics vs another.

You could lay motivation issues and laziness on the pitch partially at Allegri's feet. But this tactical nonsense? @MikeM has it right.

There is not a single tactical style that is going to work when 8-9 out of our 11 players on the pitch over the last few weeks have trouble making even 5m sideways passes. Our players are playing lethargically and lazily on the pitch and allowing themselves to be pressed back. Allegri has mentioned it multiple times that they need to sit back less, push forward more.

I'd say Allegri needs to replace/upgrade our fitness staff as our players looked gassed far too often, after just a couple minutes of exertion.

Watch the sequence of play that led to Napoli winning the corner last weekend that they scored from. 2 or 3 of our players were closer to the ball outside our box than any Napoli player, and could easily have taken possession, but all of them stood there, not one moved to take the ball, and they let the Napoli player get the ball, which led to the shot that forced the corner.

Allegri, if anything, needs to really read the riot act to this team, and bench players who lazily fuck around on the pitch like Pjanic especially was doing today. That shouldn't be acceptable.

I did say the blame doesn't rest solely with him, didn't I? :p

I'm just concerned that we look clueless going forward, and the way he's been "raging" at the media in recent weeks is a bit excessive. We usually end the season strong, but we've been looking completely out of shape/form, our defense has been "leaking" goals, and our midfield is shambolic.

Also, if it's between Allegri and Dybala, I'm siding with the Dybala camp tbh. Higuain keeps playing for whatever reason. It's clear Allegri has his favorites, and this may or may not be impacting performances.

Whether it was Allegri's fault or not, the team played an ugly game, once again and this time against a 10 men merda squad. All we need is a good change, add quality to the team, fix the midfield which has been by far our main handicap this year, the trio of Pjanic, Matuidi and Khedira isn't working, all of them are slow and give away too many balls. I don't know if Allegri's time is up but we must not sell our best player, Dybala. Yes he is our best player, he's young and talented, selling him would be a big mistake, he needs guidance and to be the player we build our football system around like Salah in Liverpool, he must be an inspiration to the team when they need him.

Nah.. Max would get massacred if he benched 90mils player.

It's wasn't a great move to purchase Higuain imo. Sure he is probavly the only WC FW available at that times, and he done good at Juventus, but so far higuain and dybala simply cannot coexist.

Interestingly Allegri speaks about not believing much in scheme's and tactics
More so getting the ball to your best players feet and asking them to win one on one's

It sort of explains the way we attack
Not to say there isn't a plan but I think it's more about creating mismatches and being good technically

:agree:

Which is why we struggle when Dybala is so out of form. I've hardly seen a match this season where he hasn't received the ball in dangerous spaces numerous times. His form dictates what he does with it from there, and how well the team does. He was fantastic with the ball when he came on today. But too often his touch is poor and he doesn't look for his teammates when he gets near the box (Higuain's poor off-ball movement this year hasn't helped with this).

I don't blame Dybala though, as he's not really a CAM, his passing and creating for others from deeper is rather average. Being stuck behind Higgy on the pitch kind of castrates his best quality which is being absolutely lethal in and around the box (even his final pass in the box is good). I want Max to move the team towards Dybala being a 9 eventually. Unfortunately I don't see it happening unless we move on from Gonzalo.

The other option is a 2 man pair upfront, but again I'd rather see this with a more complementary partner for Dybala.

The way he's dealing with our best players and overrating other for whatever reason he does is just getting :sergio:

And he even contradict himself... if his attacking plan is to let best technical players to do the job WTH he let them in the bench and start with clearly less technical guys... if Max can see how ahead is Paulo skills against Pipa for me is a close chapter

In retrospect, the Higuain purchase, especially for that insane amount of money, was a mistake. We fucked up the midfield, and now have insane depth in attack, but a malfunctioning strike force. Go figure! :sigh:

If we sell Dybala, Marotta and Co. should just fucking resign. Enough of this BS policy which only weakens us long term.
