I installed Ubuntu 10.04 and I'm having a problem already. The computer freezes after some time. Has happened quite a few times already. I reckon its due to the box heating up (I had this problem with earlier Ubuntu as well) Any way I can regulate the heat generated?

I need help, the sounds comes out extremely horrible from my laptop. It's not the speakers as when I connect it to the amplifier it sounds as horrible but amplified.

It's like there is extreme noise interfering, what should I do?

Open the Sound Mixer, and reduce all the output bars by 2 notches and see if it helps. You could also try changing the sound driver\engine from ALSA to OSS and see if it makes a difference. Unfortunately, I'm not sure exactly where to find it.

For the last few releases, I've remained with Amarok 1.4, but now that I've deemed Amarok 2 stable enough, I've upgrade, however, the lyrics to my songs (which I put in a lot of effort in downloading), are not reflecting. Is there anyway to export lyrics from Amarok 1.4 and import them in Amarok 2?

For Windows to install, there needs to be an NTFS partition marked as the System partition. I remember something similar happened to me once, and Martin helped me out. I eventually wiped the whole drive, created an NTFS partition and installed Win 7 on it first, and then installed Ubuntu. You *might* have to do the same.

Ok, I got sick and tired of all the bugs that I faced with my recent installations of Ubuntu and Kubuntu so I just installed a fresh new OpenSuse and to be honest, these guys work more on stability than on eye candy and I am not really after eye candy.

Yesterday I vacumed my PC and lowered my CPU's temp by a whopping 6-8°C!

I wanted to share that geeky info with someone. :p

It actually looks pretty neat, as compaired to my old PC which looked like a dust graveyard after a month of use. This new Cooler Master case has better ventilation, more openings, etc. and minimal dust gets inside. I didn't open it for about 5-6 months and was surprised to see it like that.
Yep, try and vacume the ventilators, lots of dust gets stuck under them.
