So my desktop was becoming suspiciously slow, decided to reinstall. I wish I could get my hands on the guy who thought up writing data on plastic discs, I tried 3 of them and got nothing but an insane stream of read errors. As usual. It actually made me reminisce on how reliable floppies used to be.

Anyhow, my firefox profile is grown huge, which makes it slow. Problem is I have no idea how to isolate the useful stuff in there from the junk. So I've decided to try Chromium for a change, it actually imports some stuff from the ff profile, I like that. Also has adblock and flashblock.

I've been using Chromium with FF for quite a while now, the nice thing is that imports everything practical from FF, so you don't have to do much.

I need help with fstab, do you have some time to help me, if yes can you log on messenger?

Ok why WHY do fonts look so crap? Fresh buntu install, so it's not a matter of settings being screwed up. Fonts in the OS look great, fonts in the menus in FF and Chromium look great. But then I load even frickin reddit.com, which is not in any way outdated (if that were an excuse) and the fonts look like crap, they're totally the wrong size. whyyyyyyyyyyy

Experienced the same thing with Opera. Funny thing was fonts would alternate between two completely different ones each time I restarted Opera :D

Okay so the fonts thing is forgetting to install ms fonts. The package always seems to change its name, it's now called ttf-mscorefonts-installer. Which is misleading cause it actually installs them, not just some installer.

I've done this tons of times but it's been a while since I last did a reinstall.

I had that for a few months. Then switched to Kubuntu, which refused to work properly on my laptop. Any other recommendations?
I used KDE on Opensuse, it was nice but Gnome is faster that's why I'm on Mint.

I tried Opensuse too, but had to change it in a day because it was so damn slow. There's another distro called Peppermint Ice out. Maybe I'll give that one a try.

So I thought my sound card was toast and all of a sudden it works again. I haven't heard a peep out of it for months. Even booted into windows to see if that could unblock it. Don't get it. :confused2
