Is Linux just a rebel thing? A "everyone uses windows, im special i dont use windows"? or is Linux really better. I mean for me I use my laptop 2 browse, chat, listen 2 music, download, watch videos and play FM. Windows is fine for all that i do. Was just curious other than what i do, where does Windows lack and Linux succeed?

The Fedora DVD didn't work. I don't know how Martin convinced me to installing Gentoo; ity is like a never ending process.
What do you mean didnt work? As in you burned it but was corrupt? Or didn't burn in the first place? You got to give yourself burning permissions in order to burn...

in those particular examples you mentioned, linux is found wanting only on fm and games in general. for everything else you can use linux.

i can't tell you if it's better, it depends from person to person, but it is more stable, more flexible, offers more options and customazation.

The Fedora DVD was corrupt or it had some problem with the VGA that i din't bother try fixing. Gentoo was ready and I wanted Gentoo in the first place.

Now after three hours last night of working on gentoo, I went to sleep so I can continue today in the morning. Woke up, continued and I was thinking how smooth it is going (even if it is a loooooong procedure).

Done and done and the rebooting came. I rebooted but I couldn't log in.

I am now in the process of doing everything again :D

As Martin says, practice makes perfect :D

guys, i want to install KDE. if i decide to install the KDE desktop within ubuntu how much data(roughly) will i need to download from the web? i have the kubuntu cd, but not the alternate install one, so i can only make a clean install and format my exsisting ubuntu partition which i don't want to do, i wanna have both.
