i use fedora and backtrack
which is better ubunto or fedora ?

I bet this is because your distro is using a dedicated partition for /boot, which will contain kernel images (a few mb's in size each). As you upgrade your kernel periodically it will fill up. You should do:

That will give you a listing of all the versions installed (line starts with "ii""). Pick a couple of old ones (make sure it's not the one you're currently running on, cause that will break your system) and (for example):

You can find out which version you're running with:

I don't think you can say which distro is better when it comes to popular ones like Ubuntu and Fedora, they are both stable and their community is not lacking one bit. It all goes down to preference in the end, I am not a fan of RPM for example and prefer Debian based distros above all others.

I use Ubuntu and have no real problems and it does 99% of what you have with Windows.

- I still can't do multisession DVDs even if I could with Windows on DVD-R and DVD+R.
- Some sites(ex: RDS.ca videos) don't load videos because they use the latest flash player and they stopped support for Ubuntu.

The rest is fine.

i think debian is good for linux server no for all users...
debian is difficult and hard for for Beginner user
i want change my os because Fedora doesn't rank quite as high in terms of the software installation interface, which lacks a powerful search function. Fedora does have a great selection of software available, but finding it and installing it can sometimes be a chore.
i install fedora in my laptop with VMware Workstation
In fact, I run Windows and Linux simultaneously.

I did not say Debian as a distro but a Debian based distro, Ubuntu, Linux Mint etc are Debian based.

Accounts like Siamak underscore just how many bored people there are on the internet. Whoever it is decided being themselves is too dull and they'd rather play the hand puppet. The ventriloquist wannabees of the internet forum.

So I can upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04 but they're recommending I back-up my data. I really can't be arsed unless the risk of losing data is high so is it just a precaution or what?
