Btw vlatko if you run:
$ equo install --pretend undvd
..you'll get a half baked dvd ripping/video transcoding app by yours truly :eyebrows:
Yeah, I know of that little app for a long time, because of your numerodix blog. Too bad I don't rip anything anymore, it's much easier to just download it. :p
Bleh, this is no good. The kde4 desktop frickin lags on my dualcore with 3gb of memory. It's terrible on this old laptop, insane amounts of pointless io on an old, slow harddrive. kio_thumbnail just refuses to die.
Wait, an OLD laptop with dual-core and 3gb of RAM? That doesn't sound old. :D

It runs great on my PC, E8400 + 4GB of DDR2. And I mean great. Sabayon was always one of the fastest distros I tried, always faster than Kubuntu for example.

Nah, the old one is a Pentuim-M 1.6GHz with 512mb RAM.

Aaah, I see. Well give it a whirl on that prehistoric Gentoo partition of yours. Or is that your holy grail? :D

I thought you dual-boot Kubuntu and Gentoo on the same machine.

So, basically now you're Gentoo free? (install pending) :D

You got it wrong :D

toshiba dualcore - kubuntu
dell 3 years old - gentoo (harddrive died)
old HP - now installing gentoo, sabayon was too slow
Your Dell was a disaster buy, right?

I am running Kubuntu on Lenovo dualcore 2GB RAM
Linux Mint Gnome on 6 year old Acer Celeron M 1,5 GB RAM

Utterly so. 1) Battery dead after 9 months 2) Screen fitting frickin cracked so it doesn't close properly and probably not safe to transport 3) Harddrive dead

I want to replace the harddrive because the screen is nice and large 1680x1050 and I can keep using it on the desk. But as a laptop what a failure.

I have and old HP with a Sempron 3100+ and 512MB RAM still going strong.

Also have a newer HP 6830s and an Acer in my firm. But HP all the way.

I also do all my printing on like a 5 year old HP LaserJet 1010. Only feed it with original cartridges and it is yet to let me down. :D
