anybody help me, can i get football manager up and running on ubuntu

yep.. install wine (sudo apt-get install wine)
after it's installed, open up a terminal and enter: (winecfg)

Select windows 98 as the windows version, and go to sound and choose an appropriate sound driver (it should do this automatically if you enter the tab)
after that, either, (wine "../.../setup.exe") or (wine "../../fm.exe") if you have it installed already.. you have to have a no-cd crack tho, iirc..

I got FM running before, but IIRC I ran it on VMware not sure though... You should give that a try Bessie boy.

Well MS are known to put out great code, aren't they. Frankly the whole proposition of "validating" an environment is pretty hard to begin with, there is no obvious target to check.

I passed by a distro called Mint. I installed it as it was Debian based and I was starting to get really pissed with PCLOS and its lame rpm. After I started the adventure it turned out to be a polished Kubuntu coming from Ireland. That's its default look

There's a review about Linux Mint in this month's PCLINUXOS magazine and to sum it up they call it "Ubuntu done right", as it's based on *buntu.

That's a nice screenshot Jack, I love the icon for the USB stick, that's really flashy. Don't think I'll be switching anytime soon but will try it out when I can certainly.

All the icons are amazing, this iconset I use on all the distros I tried and it comes by default on Mint. If you like it install it it is called Nuovex or something like that. The directories look nmeat also, I will post a screen shot displaying the icons later.

NuvoX? Silly me, didn't recognize it, I use it on all KDE distros as well.
