No one is defending Bonucci's actions of the last year. Just pointing out it's not the end of the world to bring him back, and if we do bring him back, it's beyond stupid as a Juventus fan to not hope he gets back to his best.
Agreed. I really do not want this deal to happen, I hate this rat so much. But if he does come back, I want him to become the greatest centerback in the world and score a hattrick on Milan.

He will suck like he did at Milan. Barza wont be there to help him this time because Andrea is ready for geriatrics.Chiello ...who knows...we will have a retirement home of a defence with brainfart prone asstackler with skinny leggs.

I disagree, from a sporting perspective is were this deal really hurts us.
It is obvious that Max has a soft spot for Bonucci, he will play him no matter if he is good enough or not, or the overall cost on the team, as he always did.
Bonucci is a defender that cannot defend, more like a CM playing as CB.
Opposition knows that and always prefer to go past his area of control.
If Bonucci is forced to defend, we will concede.
To overcome this, we field two real defenders, each on his side and at that time we had two of the best in the world in younger Barzagli and Chiellini. Even then Bonucci, Bonuccied, but Buffon was also legend on one on ones.
Now Barzagli is too old for this job and clearly Benatia is not that good and of course Sce is not as good as Buffon either.
Cancelo and Sandro are very strong offensively, but they can't defend and help the CBs as good as Licht and Evra could.

So the

Sce
Cancelo Benatia Bonucci Chiellini Sandro

Defense, only has two defenders who can defend, defensive solidarity is gone and we will concede very easily, score a lot too, but it's likely that silly mistakes on important matches we were winning will shatter our morale.

And lastly, an extra CB fielded to bodyguard Bonucci's inability to defend means a man less upfront, in our case, only one of Dybala, Dcosta, Berna will accompany Ronaldo up-front.
So we don't only lose defensive solidarity, but also 33% of our attackers.
There is more to that.

Fullbacks are an interesting talking point. Take Dani Alves and Marcello untill recently. Both defensively quite shit. Both offensively absolutely brutal and the best two cb's in the world.

Their ability to go past their direct opponent and surplus at offensive output made it so that their opponent was down deep alot of the time. Allready starting when the game is still and in organisation, they'll be actively involved in the buildup, or staying not too far from their fullback. Opponents will think twice before trying to push high on them cause losing the ball there, will spark a most lethal counter. And in possession they'll add so much you are forced to have your fullbacks help the cb's.

Licht and evra are good at it. That was very nice. But at most they soak up the offensive fullback and cant break out themselves. in his prime licht could and it immediately made a difference.

Come Sandro and Cancelo. No they arent as good at the protecting. But they are both, especially sandro, very good at duelling. They are both good at driving forward and keeping the opponent fullbacks at bay and will win the majority of the duels on their side, which will lower pressure on cb's naturally.

They'll will lower the need for the cb's to be protected

Worries about Bonucci:

Can he defend in a 4 man backline?
Will a high salary for him cause locker room issues
Will he age well or badly

Good things:

He should help us pass out from the back and be very effective against high pressing teams like Liverpool who could overrun our midfield
He has good synergy with Chiellini
He's a fighter, has grinta

The best thing about Bonucci is that he's not Caldara.

Can imagine Spurs/Liverpool's midfield and strikers pressing us hard in the UCL quarters and Bonucci spraying passes above them to Costa/Cuadrado. That is a big benefit of Bonucci. If we can bypass a packed mifield, our attack will rip teams to shreds

:D

Really though, I don't care. As long as Caldara goes, I'm fine. So sick of that name already.
By the way, when was the last time one of these young Atalanta stars actually lived up to their hype? We had people here freaking out about missing both Kessie and Gagliardini (future NT captain  ) and both have been quite average thus far.

Other young players of the last few years for them that had some hype... Baselli, Grassi, Bonaventura, etc? None of them performed at their new clubs.

I bet 95% of this forum hasn't even seen Caldara play.

He's the best italian defender under 28. Since they are all shit, no big feat.

People act like he's the second comming of Baresi or Scirea.

- - - Updated - - -

People need to remove their dick out of their painfull anus, and see the truth here.

Bonucci was a massively praised defender and it got into his head. Big ego man went out of line and was sold as fuck to milan. Where he failed dramatically.

Did he had a horrible season ? Oh lol yes. Like an entire year of his blunders he made at his start here. He's not meant to lead and take all this responsobility.

Did people forget how bad chiellini was at some point untill they placed fucking legrottalgie next to him ? Yeah, offcourse they did. Because at that point he couldnt lead and made mistakes all over. Like Bonucci does, except chiellini was 8 years younger so thats fine.

Was Bonucci overrated here ? Offcourse not.

Bonucci is a tactically excellent centreback that is great at holding his line, blocking out through passes and covering behind other centrebacks.
He has the best regista cb ability in the game
He's also a potent header.
His weakness is direct interceptions and stepping out.

When Bonucci left juventus, we lost the regista cb. pjanic dropped deep, teams pressed pjanic, dybala dropped deep and was choked. We saw Dybala and Pjanic had difficult seasons (yet pjanic somewhat managed), and we suffered immensely against every team that was skilled in organised pressing forward.

If Bonucci returns, we'll have two marauding fullbacks. Again a strong counter against the roflmao press. Dybala and Pjanic playing in their normal area's. Several high speed trains to play into space to. 2 players that can switch play with perfect long passes.

Arguably, Bonucci can be a bigger upgrade to this team then Ronaldo is over Higuain in plenty of games, just because of this.

If we cant get the ball forward, Ronaldo wont get feed either.

I hate bonehead for going full Narcissistic personality disorder and boot off to milan. He was rewarded with the single most awfull revenge season he could have.

lets take him back and win the champions league.
