Incredible how weak La Liga is, Barca with a point more than us is 3rd, and 5th place club is at 59pts. No wonder Barca are in CL despite how shit they are

8th place Sassuolo has won as many points as 5th place Sociedad. It has 2 heavy clubs (that both choked) and one semi heavy. Serie A is much more balanced if you exclude best 2 teams (us and inter)
Sure but I don't think you can really make any conclusions about the level of the league based on that. One could just as well claim that it means that it's harder to win points in La Liga compared to Serie A.

No because the gap between top4 and the rest is much larger. Unless you think Sevilla wins 80+ in Serie A or Atletico wins 90+. I think a league strength or level of competition rather is determined by how good your clubs in the upper table are doing, and this years Serie A has been better

I don't quite understand your line of thought here. These teams are competing in different leagues against completely different opponents. You can't make conclusions about the strength of the league by just picking some arbitrary number of points and then comparing where a team is positioned in the table with that point total. It's way too random of a method.

It's the only method you have. This season Serie A has more quality/competitive teams compared to La Liga. Last season for example that wasn't the case. Not every season is the same in terms of difficulty

No it isn't. You could just as well compare how their teams do in Europe, watch games from both leagues or look how shitty the lesser teams are. For example in Serie A you have Parma and Crotone that have only won ≈20 points each this season. So are Parma and Crotone shittier than Eibar and Valladolid or are Inter, Atalanta and Milan stronger than Atletico, Real and Barca for example? I personally think it's more likely to be the former. I certainly don't think Inter, Atalanta and Milan as a group are stronger than Atletico, Real and Barca. Also looking at how Italian teams did in Europe again this season doesn't really help Serie A's case here.

Shit teams are shit teams, no one cares about those. The level of the top teams is more important. Also Europe is mostly a cup competition (apart from group stage) and is more likely to show current level/form than consistency over a entire season. The only other way is looking at when the teams from the same country meet in a group stage, but even that is too little of a sample size. Anyway, it's a fact that we have it much tougher than Real or Barcelona to win the title this season (inter at 90+) as well as finishing in the top4 (5 teams with potentially 78+). Our level of competition this year was higher than theirs. Also you're comparing their strongest clubs to Atalanta, it should be us inter and Milan, and then it's much closer when all are at their best. Then you have Atalanta, Napoli and Lazio vs whoever else you want on the other side. But that's not the point, strength in a head to head is one thing, keeping a level of play over a entire season is something else. And Serie A best clubs have had a better season (apart from us who are underperforming slightly)
