Juve want Ghana to release Asamoah

By Football Italia staff

Juventus are hoping to have Kwadwo Asamoah back from the African Cup of Nations for the clash with Celtic in the Champions League.

The 24-year-old was part of the Ghana side that lost to Burkina Faso on Wednesday evening in the semi-finals of the competition.

But the Black Stars still have one more game to play in South Africa, as they face Mali in the third-place play-off in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

According to Gazzetta dell Sport though, the Bianconeri are pressing the Ghana Football Association not to play the midfielder as they want him back for the trip to Glasgow.

Juve travel to Celtic Park to play Neil Lennon's men on Tuesday February 12.

Why would the Ghana Football Association agree to let him come back?

They want to finish 3rd for natonal pride and would want to send a signal that they won't give in to clubs demands for their players.

Maybe to have good relationship with a great club like Juventus who own their best player today and probably for the next 4-5 years.

Who cares about 3rd place? Nobody. They can beat Mali without him anyway.
