But of course people here wouldn't want him because he's either a "Barca washup" or a Mexican. Hell, I hate Mexico but I know he's a sick player.

Stupid Rijkaard messed him up a little once he started to use him in midfield. But Rafa is still damn good.
You and I have seen him play enough to know he deserves respect. His ball control is rather superb for a defender which would help the midfield. Still maybe there is some January hope.

Top quality player in all aspects of the game, but I doubt we'd make an offer even if he gets frozen out by Pep.

i had 7 and i keep it that way...

we got a good striker
we got a backup goalkeeper..

but the only thing we really needed was some defence.. so thats why i wont vote 8, 9 or 10...

Lol, why would anyone, apart from Tonykart, be opposed to signing a player only because he's a Mexican ?

I agree about Marquez. I voted for him to be our CB signing last summer, when Mark created the poll about the new CB :p
He'd have added everything our centre defense lacks at the moment, imo.

Btw, v1rtu4l, i don't think Ćorluka experienced poverty in his life. Even though born in a village in Bosnia, he's been in Dinamo since he was 6 or 7 and he always enjoyed the privilegies footballers have in Croatia.

I got your point but i think that you generalized a lot. The chances are that a footballer born in Brazil was much poorer than a footballer born in Germany, but most of the footballers ( no matter where are they from) come from poor families so even the players born in Germany (most of them) were far from being rich before they succeeded in professional football.

i can not judge in this case, because it don't know him personal ;) you may be right, but even having privilegies in Countries like croatia, brazil, romania and so on is a very different thing than living in some country like germany, france, england and so on

i agree that players may come out of poor families, but when you take germany as example even a poor family here has nothing to care or fear about. the social system cares for everyone .. even when you do not like to work and are lazy scum you will have enough money for a flat, internet, your favorite online rpg, pay tv, food and a car.

in brazil there is not only the poverty but the criminals as well and i think the players from these countries try to grab so much money to support their family and give them better lifes, where in our western world most do not have to save their family from poverty

4-

To put it quite simply, we somehow managed to completely ignore our largest weakness, defense. We are nowhere close to where should be in the defensive department and it's shocking that we didn't even attempt to sign a big name. Our fullback departments are pretty weak and we lack a world class CB to partner Chiellini.

I think Mellberg is a good defender, but certainly not world class. He isn't serie A material where most of the defensive work is based on close man to man marking and physical strength. However, that isn't to say that Mellberg won't be able to adapt to the Italian game. I think with time he'll become very useful.

so lets review theses players one by one as far is i know them:

it seemed that we was in the race for Ujfalusi, but he decided against us ... i don't know if it is because he wanted a new challenge or he thought he would be only a backup when chiellini and andrade were fit ... i just guess they offered him a better wage packet with the opportunity to play more often.

Pique is so far unproven, that can't be the signing you wanted as top centre-back, can it ? (he only got 12 appearances)

I don't know much about Garay, but we can surely say that Real Madrid have enough money, that they don't even have to care if Juve is interessted or not. They simply can outbit us with wages and transfer fee, so no chance here.

Loaning Ivanovic from Chelsea without the right to buy would not be a clever move ... we pay to develop a player for them, so he does his mistakes with us and then returns ? no smart move, that is the reason why milan didn't do this as well.

I always thought Corluka was a right back, but if you want to consider him i guess it's like the same with the other money grabbers ... i see the trend that people from poor countries are more like gold diggers that just look at how they can grab as much money as possible, because they know the poverty in their homecountry (popular cases like ivanovic, robinho & co show this).

Kompany was only sold by HSV because he was injured very often and also had disciplinary issues with the club ... you would have bashed the board for buying andrades your brother...

don't know bout ferrari ... he had a couple of decent games with roma, but i guess no one would consider him as top cb.

so from the ones you listed i don't see anyone that would be considered as top signing that had a realistic chance of coming to us.

sadly, knowadays we can't compete with the english clubs money, but i think it shows enough about the character of the people that go to a crap club just to get a few bucks more ... i hope they rot in the rain of london ;)

feel free to share your opinion about who you think would have been possible to move to us.

from the above list i think ujfalsi was the one that was most realistic
I agree with most of what you have said, however i rate Kompany pretty high, and that he just had the worst of luck with injuries,i know it could lead to another Andrade, but lets face it,Andrade's recovering abilities wouldn't be the same as that of Kompany, and with that price,he could have been great for Juve and Corluka,i know he usually plays in the RB but with that kind of defensive skills, I would rate him higher than Mellberg..and as for other CB's, I would say Coloccini would have been a better option to partner Chiellini, as well as i dont know if he was available, i always like Gonzalo Rodriguez, can be bit clumsy, but very strong defensively, and i believe Fernando Meira was a transfer target for us too right,he was available..

So with this,i will give a 5 for Juve's transfer market this season..

Will you show up when do well?
i am fair and consistent, not a crotch-sniffer like most "juve fans" here. i give praise when praise is due, not encourage moronic transfers and other managerial blunders.

the sheer blatant disregard and failure to strengthen our teams OBVIOUS weakness proves our boards incompetence. alongside that, any real manager would be kicking and screaming to acquire the players he needs to better his teams chances to succeed in the future and better his chances to retain his job.

once again, anyone who thinks that this years transfer campaign was anything above a 5 is fucking dumb

now lets all go watch our team squander another match with a 1 goal advantage and a 1 man advantage with 1 minute to go in the game. its gonna be a great season.
