6 for some quality players in Amauri, Poulsen and Manninger (as a sub).

Not more because we failed to reinforce the defence.

I am satisfied with the players we signed and the fact were willing to take a risk with 3 youngsters in the 1st team, so 7.

there are alot of generous people here, but when disaster strikes those same generous folks will not be so altruistic with their kind words

5. I'm still pissed that Mellebrg and Knezevic are our CBs incoming, and that Grygera and Molinaro are still considered starters. Also, what the hell do we do if Camo gets injured again?

i here "zapata here", "zapata there" ...

if you wake up from your fantasy world and click the exit-button in fm08 you would realise that there was never a chance of buying him.

imo you can only criticise the board for not buying players that were AVAILABLE...

so reviewing the defenders that were available, who of them would you have signed ? .... oh wait ... there aren't any decent defenders that were available and would have swapped teams for us with our current wage structure ? say whuuut ?

we do nothing.

apparently since people speak of the amauri signing as the greatest thing since sliced bread, we should just take camo off of the roster and format amauri into a MF somehow

justifying our off season as decent or even giving a rating above 5 is fucking stupid. signing amauri was not bad but it was not sooo necessary. what we needed were defenders and mfs not strikers. and signing him doesn't make everything better either

So are you saying mellberg and Knezevic were our best options?
mellberg for free was something they did pretty soon... so it was something that was like "if we don't get anything decent in summer at least we got him free". he was always thought of as backup ...

i don't really remember, but name other central backs that were transfered in the summer !

Mellberg was free and is considered THE CB signing of our mercato, Knezevic was the backup obviously. So getting Mellberg, i already had a feeling that we weren't gonna be getting anyone special.

Ujfalusi was free. IDK, if Barca wer signing CBs for fun, but they got Pique and Caceres. Real got Garay. Not saying we would have definitely gotten them, but they were on the market. Kompany went Newcastle, Corluka went Tottenham, Chelsea seemed to be willing to loan Ivanovic. Even Matteo friggin Ferrari would have been a better option than the two we got. He was free and went Genoa.

Gilardino actually looked good against our defence. He made Mellberg look a fool with that goal and he won more than 755 of the air balls against Legro.

so lets review theses players one by one as far is i know them:

it seemed that we was in the race for Ujfalusi, but he decided against us ... i don't know if it is because he wanted a new challenge or he thought he would be only a backup when chiellini and andrade were fit ... i just guess they offered him a better wage packet with the opportunity to play more often.

Pique is so far unproven, that can't be the signing you wanted as top centre-back, can it ? (he only got 12 appearances)

I don't know much about Garay, but we can surely say that Real Madrid have enough money, that they don't even have to care if Juve is interessted or not. They simply can outbit us with wages and transfer fee, so no chance here.

Loaning Ivanovic from Chelsea without the right to buy would not be a clever move ... we pay to develop a player for them, so he does his mistakes with us and then returns ? no smart move, that is the reason why milan didn't do this as well.

I always thought Corluka was a right back, but if you want to consider him i guess it's like the same with the other money grabbers ... i see the trend that people from poor countries are more like gold diggers that just look at how they can grab as much money as possible, because they know the poverty in their homecountry (popular cases like ivanovic, robinho & co show this).

Kompany was only sold by HSV because he was injured very often and also had disciplinary issues with the club ... you would have bashed the board for buying andrades your brother...

don't know bout ferrari ... he had a couple of decent games with roma, but i guess no one would consider him as top cb.

so from the ones you listed i don't see anyone that would be considered as top signing that had a realistic chance of coming to us.

sadly, knowadays we can't compete with the english clubs money, but i think it shows enough about the character of the people that go to a crap club just to get a few bucks more ... i hope they rot in the rain of london ;)

feel free to share your opinion about who you think would have been possible to move to us.

from the above list i think ujfalsi was the one that was most realistic

I'm sure if we would have offered a decent bid for Rafa Marquez, we could have gotten him as well. He would have been a good pickup.

Indeed. Marquez is been a monster.
But of course people here wouldn't want him because he's either a "Barca washup" or a Mexican. Hell, I hate Mexico but I know he's a sick player.

Stupid Rijkaard messed him up a little once he started to use him in midfield. But Rafa is still damn good.
