In fact we didn't get rid of him. He's still our player and we are still paying his wages.
and if he has a good season we will retain some of the value

is this hard to understand? if we sell him now we would be lucky to get 1m for him, have a good season and we may actually recoup some money

but wait...that doesn't fir into your pessimistic viewpoint, right?

We could sell him for nothing or loan him and hope he regains some value, then add him back to the team or sell him for more than we can now.
whoah...whoah....step back from the comments...no insightful posting here son

Matrinez was not a great signing, fair enough but selling him now would be cutting off our noses to spite our faces
if he has a good season he will be worth much more than his current value,if not we sell him and be glad he wasn't around our first team but keeping him at the club when he has zero chance of playing would have been suicidal

What formation were Cesena playing last season? Did they change the coach? What formation are they likely to play this season?

4-3-3/4-3-2-1.

They lost Giaccherini and Jimenez but they now have Mutu, Candreva and Martinez.

That's probably going to be their line up

Antonioli
Ceccarelli-Von Bergen-Rossi-Lauro
Parolo-Colucci-Candreva
Mutu-Martinez
Bogdani

Their team is good enough to finish mid table. Hopefully Martinez will play well so we can sell him for a good price.

It has nothing to do with pessimism, I just don't see any potential in him nor any hope that he might gain form. So 1 Million this season is better than 1 Million next season plus his wages.

What an insane price our club has spent for this player!
He was never half decent to begin with, but that insane ammount could never be justified.
I wonder what was Marotta's cut from this deal and how or board tolerates and trusts Marotta after such a scum.

Whenever I see I transfer like this I always suspect something.
