Jorge has been on the receiving end for no fault of his really. In the absence of playing time, due to his injuries, we're giving him stick because of his price tag. I don't get how it's his fault that we paid 12m for him. Obviously Marrotta knows nothing about negotiating and valuing players. Martinez for his part, is nothing more than a squad player for a big team, and maybe more in a mid table team. He always put in the running while on the pitch, even when played out of position, which was most times, and we can't fault him for being injured or expensive. It's not like he's bitching or speaking out of turn. Actually, I kinda feel bad for him coz he's received a lot of flak, and a large part of it has been misplaced. As a fan, I feel he'd do well elsewhere coz the expectations here are a lot higher. But having said that he can't be expected to play like a player worth a certain amount of money just because we couldn't read his value right.

I agree

I think he came from a 4-3-3 but 4-2-4 would be a lot better for him than a 4-4-2

Juve these days are like Jodie Foster in The Accused, and all the provincial teams are the rapists. Marotta being the pinball machine of course.
Haha

But like everyone said, he's a pretty decent player who was injured pretty much all season. Blame's on Marotta for paying so much. I hope he can show us what he's able to do this season. Forza Jorge.

Don't get me wrong, I want to see him get a proper run in the team, but the thought of loaning a player back to his original club, you couldn't it past Marotta. Thankfully he hasn't though :)

I don't see much reason to get rid of him unless we get a sizeable offer. I think the 4-2-4 will suit him much better that last and he's not a bad alternate by any means.

Fuck no to loaning him out.

I think it was a case of him been asked to learn a completely new position, after playing for several seasons as a left wing forward, who liked to cut in and have a pop at goal, with speed and a touch of flair. Instead, delneri played him as a touchline hugging winger, whose main jobs were crossing the ball and helping cover the whole left flank offensively and defensively. Those two positions require completely different natural tendencies...such as a natural tendency to drive into the box vs a natural tendency to hug the touchline, and put crosses in for others.

he looked like he didn't know what he was supposed to be doing, when he did actually play. its laughable how people pour such huge criticism solely onto marotta, when delneri was the man responsible for tactics, selection and training. it was delneri's job, not marrota's to get the best out of martinez. so criticize the price, yes...but his complete failure on the field is more down to delneri's ineptitude and lack of tactical nous.

the managers we have had since ranieri have been truly terrible. I don't rate ranieri hugely highly, but at least he tends to play players in their best positions...which is a rudimentary skill required for management...i doubt he would see martinez and think 'perfect!!!!! i will make him into the perfect winger..'...melo as a regista?????? martinez as a traditional 4-4-2 winger???? decisions like these paint a very poor picture of Ciro and delneri. Ciro has more of an excuse as he is in the larval stage of becoming a manager...

He was asked to makes runs which are not his natural game. he was asked to find positions which were not his natural positions. It wasn't just his running style that looked strange, but moreso, the runs he made were useless, rarely into space, always into trouble...not knowing where to run makes an obvious contribution to not knowing how to run. his natural instincts pulling him one way, yet delneri's direction pulling him another way.
