That`s not Mexes`s fault!
It`s the "Roma Effect" almost every player who play for Roma have a disciplinary problem (Totti,Cassano,Cufre) and now Mexes. I`m pretty sure I forgot some players
Chivu once got a five match ban for punching a rival club player while he was at Ajax. Besides that he got a lot of reds cards. He´s a very good player, but I wouldn´t call him an example if pacifism.
It was used quite a lot in 90's, especially by Capello and Arrigo Sacchi. Just because not too many managers use it nowadays doesn't mean it won't work or is somehow "forbidden."
Roma has a surplus of midfielders though. They don't really have a striker. The one they did have, Montella, was loaned out. When he did play, he didn't seem to fit in & I think that's due to the formation. It works for them, but I'm not sure it would work out with Juve.
