Since most people on the forum value player ratings quite a lot (case in point being the Giovinco thread):

Marchisio's average rating this season is 6,17. Discounting Barzagli, only 2 players have a higher one: Melo (6,18) & Quag (6,28). Yet there seems to be a consensus that Marchisio has been decent, but nothing more.
There also seems to be a consensus that Giovinco has been absolutely great, one of the best players in Serie A this season even. His average rating is 6,25.

Stats mean little (or Grava is one of top fwq best Ds in Serie A), my eyes way more. I watch every single game we play, as do you, do you honestly think Marchisio is a consistent player? Unless you mean consistently underwhelmning? He is defenitely an inconsistent player, when it comes to GOOD performances.

I dont agree at all , Marchisio is already World Class . Pasotre may will be Ballon Dor winner , but i would prefere player who loves the club and give 100% from him self more than Lazy player who want to play for Barcelona .

What pisses me off about this rumour though is the way Zamparini looks at us as if we're another average club that he can simply snatch up our best players (talks about Chiellini and Marchisio) plus money for Pastore ! Who the fuck are we getting, Maradona ?!

Paying 30 odd millions on a player with a "potential" to be world class in the future IMO is just Dump.

sneijder, Krasic and many other talented players were brought for half that price and they're as great if not better than Pastore, so what makes this kid so unique. I've watched him with Huracan and i remember saying he'll be a hit in serie A back then but there are also many other talented players out there who can have a similar (or even bigger) impact in this league.

Its all just hyping up the price, looking for best deal possible. He knows he wont get Chiellini, Marchisio or anyone else we dont want to give away, but is talking it up to get best terms. And unlike with Amauri, he truly has a gem of a player in Pastore this time around.

What are you expecting from Marchisio in our games?

Being the world class players peeps say he is?
Nah, but to be consistently useful/good in his task, take initiative, not make sidepasses and dissapear from games (and lose every physical challenge as he usually does as CM). I want him to consistent play as he has in recent games, with some balls, confidence, making things happen, not shying off from responsbility/initiative taking. Not be the typical average/invisible performances he generally tends to give.

But Pastore is 22 , Neymar is 18 , there is 4 yeras difference betwin them .

I Saw some games of Neymar this year with his NT he was awesome imo , he can play in 4-3-3 (LW)

I suppose he thinks that if he sets the bar ludicrously high then when it comes to actual negotiations he shows he is being very compromising by asking for €25m-€30m. Likewise he asks for Buffon, Chiellini and Marchisio in exchange, he would settle for Giovinco, Amauri and Sissoko.

There are many great players who never won and never will win Balon D'Or, who cares about that.


But your assessment of Marchisio is truly delisional, only thing he has in common with Scholes is also being bit of a box to box mid, makes good runs offensively well now and then. But skillset, nothing alike, nor the caliber of player Scholes used to be.

There have been absolutely no signs pointing to any top club making offers. Merely a hypothetical scenario.

Meanwhile, Zamparini is quoted as saying he's already refused a 25m euro offer from a "Spanish club". There are only two that would table this sort of money. Then there's City's deadline day inquiry. A scenario with substance.

Those comments are crazy but I keep wondering what people are seriously expecting from Marchisio in his often restrictive role.

Maybe his goals output akin to a typical Pavel Nedved season isn't enough, he needs all his crosses and assists whilst doing the dirty work too?
