New low for Serie A, Italy, absolutely baffling:

So apparently Parma's now arrested conman President seems to have bought the club with €4.5m that a gang stole through cloned credit cards? And: "The accountant of Parma president revealed that the president is living on the mother's retirement pension and his wife works as caregiver".

I love the state of affairs this league is in.

We are perched quite comfortably at the top watching down below what used to be good clubs struggle for life. Inter 7th, Milan 11th, Roma free falling with Sampdoria of all clubs right there and Napoli & Fiorentina making it complicated for anyone else.

I love it. If people haven't watched Serie A for the last 10 years it wouldn't mean anything to them. To us, who have experienced our exile can sit back with a Victoria and relax. :numnum:
Yep, anyone who would look at the table today would be utterly confused and think that Serie A is done. But it's actually been pretty exciting the past 2 seasons. And I fixed you beer choice of beer. :smoke:

It's not just about ownership of clubs. The league has been marketed poorly, the Infrastructure is 20 years behind the other league's.

Italian football needs young blood running it not these old dinosaurs who are out of their depth in 2015 and how the world fucking works.

Also Tavecchio and Sacchi making racist comments to the media is a perfect example of this.
Original insight right thurr

Parma hearing concludes

Parma’s bankruptcy hearing lasted just 10 minutes, and a verdict is expected in the coming hours.
Despite the arrest yesterday of the Ducali’s President, Giampietro Manenti, the hearing went ahead this morning, after Manenti made it clear he would not attend.
The hearing proceeded without incident, and was concluded in just 10 minutes. It had been feared Manenti could force another 60 days grace, but the President has opted not to do so.
Sky reports that the judge in the case has not yet given a ruling, but a verdict is imminent, with the most likely outcome the bankruptcy of the Emilian side.

i kinda like parma but a free weekend before the first CL QF leg would be very welcome...

Parma have officially been declared bankrupt, and will have to be funded by the Lega Serie A to finish the season.

Their debts are standing at 220 million, they are confirmed to be relegated, seems to be an end to the 4th most successful Italian side in Europe.

Sabatini: 'It's all my fault'

Roma director Walter Sabatini took the blame for their Europa League defeat, but said “resigning now would be like running away.”
The Giallorossi have crashed out of the Champions League, Coppa Italia and now Europa League, while their Serie A lead in second place has been cut to one point.
“I heard some very serious things from the fans tonight, but we are responsible for this group of players and I remain proud of them even if they are going through a difficult time,” director of sport Sabatini told Mediaset Premium.
“We must protect our lads and the last objective that remains, second place, is the most important thing right now.
“We realise the fans were already tense, but we have to look at what the team tried to do. The energy in this game reassures me, then of course it’s time to identity responsibility and understand it.
“This team tonight paid for the mistakes I made. I have to acknowledge that and the Coach paid for my errors too.
“I made a mistake in January. The team needed reinforcements in attack and I made choices that didn’t immediately produce results, so the squad felt that absence.”
Sabatini was criticised for choosing Seydou Doumbia – who was taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations – rather than Mohamed Salah.
“Salah is a player to be regretted and another mistake that I made. It is easy to accuse yourself without secondary effects, but what I say now will still be valid in future.
“I will not resign now, as it would be like running away and I am not someone who does that. I’ll think of the points the team has lost, at the consequences of that and we’ll see over the next few months.”

Garcia 'mortified' by Roma
By Football Italia staff

Rudi Garcia was “mortified” by Roma’s “unexpected” 3-0 Europa League defeat to Fiorentina and slammed lack of character.

The Coach was visibly shaken after his side was humiliated on home turf, sparking a furious protest from the fans.

“It was an unexpected defeat,” Garcia told Mediaset Premium.

“Fiorentina deserve compliments for making the most of our gifts to them, but I am mortified. We had the right desire at the start, but paid a heavy price for individual errors.

“Now we have to salvage the season with second place. If we qualify for the Champions League, it will be an acceptable campaign.

“There are 11 battles remaining in Serie A. It’s just the staff and the players. I will not let go for a second, we have to lift our heads and get back up.

“This is what I expect from my players. I spoke to them after the game, telling them that anyone with pride and character will follow me. If anyone is weak, then they do not interest me.

“I talk about character because some players seem to be afraid of playing at the Olimpico. Our stadium must get back to being a pleasant venue for us.

“In this moment of difficulty that’s the message I want to give to the team. The leader must set the example and I remain motivated.

“The season can still end well. It’s not possible for this Roma to be real. We need more character.”
Champion's League Qualification is now an acceptable campaign after he guaranteed a scudetto.

Roma wins no trophies once again.

Garcia speaking yesterday before the game:

"I wasn't shouting from the rooftops over the first six months of the season when things were going well. Nor will I now get down in the dumps and think we're doomed now. I'm staying calm because after the rain comes the sun. We need to make the sun rise."
Sure sounded like he was shouting from the rooftops with his scudetto promises and stronger team nonsense

From RomaPress:

In a shocking twist, Rudi Garcia has sent Ivorian striker Seydou Doumbia to the stands for the team’s Europa League match against Fiorentina.

Doumbia, who was brought to Roma during the January transfer market, has played a meager role in his short time with the Giallorossi. The details of the situation are unclear, but some media outlets, namely Sky Italia, are suggesting that there has been a falling-out between the player and Rudi Garcia.
Kind of fits with what he was saying about having no use for players who weren't on board with his project after the game. What a fuck up by Sabatini. :D
