panic buy? Di Vaio was a top player at the time.
He had a good season (ok, 2), that doesn't make him a top player. And a "panic buy" means that he was bought because Trez got a serious injury and we needed someone to replace him for half of the season.

It was agreed but nothing to do with Di Vaio, Nesta had a choice of either Milan or Juve and chose Milan.
Well that's not what I heard from people living in Italy back in 2002.

Yevgeny Giner: "Honda in" Milan "is not for sale. Not for 5 or 10 million »
As a result, on July 1 the Italians offered us to exchange for the rental of the Honda player of the second team, "Milan". What do you think would be our response? And then the Italians tried to get a Honda the most exotic ways, "- said Giner.

Well he fractured his skull and it could have killed him, so I can see why he wears it. He's also not been the same keeper since that, even if his confidence has improved.
The thing is, it doesn't really do anything with regards to his injury. It's purely a confidence builder (it might be that he himself acknowledges that).

It's a (perhaps thicker than regs) beefed up scrum cap from rugby and I know from personal experience that they do nothing but protect from minor bruising and scratches. In fact, at least one study has shown padding such as that actually increased the amount of injuries among rugby players - most likely due to an inflated and false sense of protection causing them to go in harder. Obviously, it goes with the story that one sport is a bit more physical than the other but the general concept of foam padding remains.

Scrum caps in rugby are really only to prevent cauliflower ears, as far as I know. That contact is almost exclusively made in the scrum, and much less so in general play. You gets knees and boots in the head in rucks, but no one is flying in head first.

I've noticed a few backs are now wearing them, but I would guess that is indeed for confidence reasons, and to protect their pretty boy looks.

I'm late to the conversation, but Maldini was an overrated filthy piece of horse shit who deserves no respect at all.

I think when its all said and done it will finish like this

1 Juventus
2 Fiorentina
3 Napoli
4 Milan
5 Roma
6 Lazio
7 Inter

I really think Fiorentina will be a massive surprise and do very well.... I also think they will do extremely well in Europa League.

Fiorentina is overrated. They overachieved last season but I think their defence sucks and Rossi is a big question mark atm

Milan will get 2nd place after being awarded 469 penalties over the course of the season, and of course Balotelli doesn't miss them.
