yes, national squad is showing overall level of serie a, only verratti and thiago motta are players from foreign leagues and they are not defenders, i don't understand why you don't rate guys like Astori, he is 10 time better than any central brazilian defender expect those who are in the national team, but italians are always underdogs, on every tournament yet they won it periodically
I agree about italian defenders, but Serie A defence is a joke. There are only 3 WC CBs in Serie A.

Still Serie A defenders have nothing to do with Italian defenders. Overall, Serie A defending is lackluster as evidenced by club performances in Europe. You also have to keep in mind that in Serie A, the attackers are also of a lower quality so the defenders won't be tested as much.

Tevez, Palacio, Rossi, Higuain, Hamsik, Mertens, Llorente, Balotelli, Cerci are nobody, i forgot, that's why they were called up into national team to participate in the world cup

None of those players are among the best in the world. Hamsik used to be but he hasn't been on top form these past couple seasons.

And who the best? Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, Ibra - okay, Or also guys like cavani, Dzeko, sturridge, Diego costa, lewandowski? That's why Dortmund wants immobile badly to replace lewandowski? Mediocre instead of world best, that's why rich teams are spentd millions and millions each summer on attackers from serie a? Because they are poor players, okay

Well yea. Those guys.
Cavani, lavezzi, Sanchez?
People always underrate serie a, I bet they have the same talks in Italy whenever great generation of players stop to play football - omg we're fucked up, baresi and co. Are gone, now we have only Maldini and these youngsters like nesta, cannavaro who will never be the world's best

You're doing this wrong Rus. It's the newest trend around here to bash Serie A and underestimate every player there.

Or that some cant handle the bitter truth.

You compare Serie A's attackers to the other top leagues and clearly there's a difference in quality.

But no,lets do it your way.'Callejon is a 25m player,Madrid undersold him' :lol2:

What is the bitter truth according to you? People are aware that Serie A is far from the fame it had during the 90es, probably 3rd or 4th league in Europe atm, but still has quality players and in a few years they'll bounce back. Clubs are taking some important steps, building new stadiums will be crucial, and new TV deal will kick in in the meantime.

But you agreed with some guy claiming that Italy is a poor country, Juve poor club, now that is hilarious.

Or that Spanish clubs have always dominated in Europe

Little perspective mate

Exactly.

And even if Italy, especially with the Brazilian climate, are a little bit hit and miss this WC imo, I really do not see any defense bar the Brazilian better than Italys.

meh.
In the past seasons Serie A lost Ibra, Silva, Cavani, Lavezzi, Sanchez, Jovetic but now we have Tevez, Llorente, Higuain, Pogba, Rossi, Gomez, Strootman, Mertens and you call it "huge drop in quality" ?

Not huge, but drop, yes.
