Look, I know what I saw during the Ranieri-era. Little by little, week by week, the Juve spirit faded away.

I'm not giving Delneri any credit whatsoever, because he was a horrible coach who never should've been hired in the first place.

My point is simply this: Our "fall" from being Juve was a lot bigger under Ranieri than it was under Delneri. When Delneri came to the club, we fell further, yes, but we had been slipping for a long time. By the time Delneri came to the club, we were no longer in contention for titles, we were no longer feared, we had been turned into a team full of pussies. That trend started under Ranieri.

It's a matter of opinion, of course, but I think you're wrong! Ranieri, when fired, left us in position for CL football. Ciro, Zaccheroni, poor transfer strategy et al. blundered that away. What did Del Neri do? Take us on a vacation through the depths of the abyss. He was and is the antithesis of "lo stile Juve." He was like a flatulent gondolier wrapping the club in a foul stench and then sinking it to never-before-seen levels.

In reality it was Ferrara's horrid results that really destroyed the Juve mentality. Ranieri was simply guilty of too many draws, Ferrara's results following the initial honeymoon period were a complete embarrassment.

thing is, ferrara never had a frickin clue what to do... after every defeat he told the media that he will work hard to find out what was wrong... a real coach would actually have seen what was wrong and work hard to get better and not "work hard to find out whats wrong". how clueless can one be ? even though we had funny metaphores like the chameleon and the tree ranieri did at least have a clue and knew what he wanted (a successor to nedved), if secco thinks otherwise and buys diego instead because he played almost as much football manager as some here its not his fault. we would have been in a much better position right now if we had continued to gather second or third places in serie a, than this bullshit with everything that followed after ranieri.

regarding the substitutions it's really funny to see people make fun of ranieris substitutions, since most people here do not get 90% of the substitutions of the coaches. nearly every fan base does say weired things about their coaches subs. milans fans blame the coach for bad subs, juve fans blame conte for wrong or late subs, inter fans blame ranieri for the subs... now what is more probable:

A) every coach that has studied long and hard to get the basics of tactics (including subs) and got many years of experience doing that is just a stupid goon

B) fans simply having no fucking clue and always knowing better (in retrospect of course)

Like I wrote in an earlier post, the stuff I'm really talking about can be found more explicitly in his press conferences, interviews, tactics and substitutions. And what players he influenced Secco to go get.

Ferrara was not the right man for the job at that particular time. But I don't think you and some others understand what it is exactly I'm referring to when it comes to Ranieri. I'm not talking about results only. Did you follow press conferences at that time? Did you see the sort of substitutions he made? Did you see the tactics he employed? Obviously not.

And do you remember how he, when he had the chance to influence transfers, blocked the Xabi Alonso transfer and begged Secco to get Poulsen instead? His request for the Iaquintas and Momos of this world? You have to understand that Ranieri is a ballsucker, and he loves cock in the anal hole. And tonight, like so many other nights, he got it.

Nah, I'm not really a fan of Ranieri. I didn't like his appointment to begin with and, while I acknowledge his negatives and somewhat defeatist attitude, he never "murdered the Juve spirit." Which is what we were initially arguing about. Sure the cracks in the surface started to appear under his watch but he cannot be found guilty of murder! That's all Del Neri. The statistics do matter, in this case, as attested to by the numerous "worst season ever" stats he managed to break. No matter what Ranieri ever blabbered about, Del Neri's got him beat in the interview category as well. This guy was just such a quintessential loser and it rang out with every infamous quote. He transformed us from a Juventus coming off an anomalously bad season into just another team wearing black and white. I mean that. Everything from players laughing in defeat on the pitch to minnows looking at us as a team to take points off of.

-edit. Forgot to address that transfer market point. I've had to say this elsewhere, but I'll say it again, the disastrous moves on the market can't be nailed onto one scapegoat. Ranieri, Secco, Blanc, Gigli (and possible more) people all had degrees of input.

-edit. One more thing, concerning tactics. Ranieri actually maintained a solid defence for us, a Juve hallmark. Del Neri, on the other hand, had us getting mauled by anyone and everyone.

Look, Delneri was terrible. Completely useless coach. But the thing is: Ranieri inherited a Juve with great potential. A team with several champions who still had a lot to give. A team that was "on the up" after a very good season. A team that did incredibly well to crawl out of Serie-B with a huge points deduction.

Delneri inherited a much worse team.
