Totti's cool but he can't come close to Ale if you compare their overall careers.
I have enough Champions League memories of Del Piero to know that he's better, but I have a soft spot for Totti so don't mind. :D Would rather Ale was compared to him than some of the no names thrown around as greats these days.

Speaking of Serie A tally goals, Totti's advantage is that he played for 4 years if not more as the lone striker under Spalletti.
I wasn't using that as an example of Totti being better, I actually like the guy and hope he can do it. Del Piero also played a year in Serie B and the annoying season before that (because of his role in the squad).

So Parma signed Fabio Borini on free transfer from Chelsea 2nd July 2011, loaned him out to Roma for €1.7 mill with option to buy for €7 mill on the 31st August 2011.

Sabatini is a genius!

You must not know too much about Baggio then. When he was 18 at Vicenza he absolutely shattered his knee to bits, everything was destroyed in his knee, he was out of football for nearly 2 years, and it was a near miracle he become a world class footballer after that, his injuries were alot worse than Del Piero's at Udine in '98. As Baggio said himself very recently ''everything I achieved in football I did with one good leg''. Imagine had good he could have been with 2 good legs. at 35 years old he snapped his cruciate ligaments and made a comeback in 77 days, thats simply fucking unbelieveable.

Del Piero from 1995-98 was as close as he ever got to being on Baggio's level, and damn if Del Piero wasn't world class then, but Roby just had them moments of sheer genuis which seperated him from every other player on the planet.
In other words, Baggio is better than Del Piero at making miraculous recoveries from injuries but when it comes to football, he BOWS down to the god of football.

The day anyone will score a backheel air goal while the ball is at full force speed is the day we can put his name alongside Del Piero.
The day anyone makes a bicycle assist on a title deciding head-to-head with the arch-rival at their stadium in front of 80k fans......

Well club honors doesn't really show the real stuff I think if it did, Zalayeta would be considered better then Baggio too. Del Piero, he is my favorite and all, but comapring him to Baggio is nuts, he is nowhere near that, he might have come close in his peak but thats that.

I like the way you use your wordes. "He is no where" "He might have". For a while I was wondering if we're talking about Alessandro Del Piero or Marco Di Vaio.

For someone who has mocked Juve's Captain and made fun of him in his most difficult moments, I don't expect you to agree with Jack.

It's a matter of opinion. I love both Baggio and Del Piero, but for me Baggio will always be the superior player for what he achieved/accomplished with the national team. Del Piero was the better club player, but Baggio was the overall better player. As I said, it's a matter of preference and opinion; there's nothing definitive about it. It's indisputable that they are both great players, and icons of their respective generations.

And what would that be?

90 as well; that goal he scored against the Czechs was magnificent. In 94 he single-handedly guided Italy to the final, scoring in almost every game. The team was indebted to him; without him they looked so pedestrian. It's not his fault Italy lost on penalties in both tournaments. Well, maybe it partially is :p
