Platini: Juve will win the Scudetto

Juventus legend Michel Platini believes it's only a matter of time before his former club win the Scudetto again.

Interviewed on Sky Italia after being awarded a star commemorating Juventus' 50 club legends, Platini was asked who would win the title.

“Juve, surely,” he smiled.

“Juve were the best in the world. It's difficult to rebuild after Calciopoli and it takes time.”

Confronted with the fact that even young Juventus supporters worship him, Platini joked: “It's because they didn't see me play…

“I don't know why they love me this way. Perhaps it's because I love them too. It's always an honour to hear compliments from youngsters who know about Juve's great history.”

Platini then talked about the crisis in Italian football.

“Italy is no longer the best in Europe. There are cycles. Today it's more about English or Spanish football.

“When I played it was Italian football. Now it's a little lost.

“Now there is a lot of violence, much more than before. When you see empty grounds, you don't want to come and play in Italy anymore.”

no i just need to put it in perspectives for 'parrots' and regurgitators ;)
Parrot? If you imply that i repeated that after Andy then you can please yourself that I did however everyone knows, (even you) that I consider Riquelme as a choker no matter what Andy said. And I know that each and every time I say that you take it personal and obviously because you know he is a damnd choker and can't accept the fact that one of your ALL TIME favourite players is a choker.

Benitez has two-match lifeline

Inter boss Rafa Benitez has been given two matches to save his job at San Siro, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Despite Inter President Massimo Moratti expressing his 'full confidence' in the Spaniard yesterday afternoon, a meeting was chaired later in the day to discuss his future.

It appears that Sunday's trip to Chievo and Wednesday's Champions League match against FC Twente will now be decisive for Benitez, who was appointed in the summer following Jose Mourinho's departure for Real Madrid.

La Gazzetta also claims that Inter will sound out Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni to see if he is interested in returning to the club as a caretaker should the axe fall on Benitez.

Trapattoni won a historic Scudetto with Inter in 1989 and was approached by Juventus in the spring when Ciro Ferrara was dismissed, such is his ability to steady a ship and fight fires.
Hopefully more than two, so he can bring Inter down in serie a more and to europa league

no, parrot as in heard someone say it somewhere sometime and then just repeat it without having an adequate reason to say it in the first place, I dont take it personal i put it in perspective like i said one of the biggest chokers in the history of choking is a demi-god here, and it's not a matter of not accepting it's a matter of i actually watched his career while many here have maybe seen him play 4-5 times and can give a better assessment personally. the only player i wouldnt take footbalistic insults against personally is el diez, and thats quite understandable.

I am not repeating anything but feel free to believe what you want, I consider Riquelme a choker from what I have seen from him, from his games with Villarreal and his games with his national team. I don't really care if you think I repeat what others say, I stand by what I say and I insist he's a choker. I also consider Riquelme a very lazy player, if that also makes me a parrot in your opinion then be it.

As for you "putting things in perspective" by telling us that Del Piero is a choker it is not something that bothers me nor it is of my concern, it's your opinion about him as it is my opinion about Riquelme. And for the matter, I see Del Piero as GOD, not demi-god.

And for the matter, Deneb...it is not a coincidence that Barcelona ended up EMPTY HANDED in season 2002/2003. They weren't even runner ups in the league.

if we re just talking opinions without properly backing them, then it's just as fair for me to call yours a parrot tirade. And i put things in perspective for that(that being the bolded statement) very reason, before going around labeling other players chokers you should remember your "god" is a reference in the matter.

It is my opinion that I label Riquelme a choker. It is my opinion based on what I've seen from him. JEEZ

once again proves that you actually didnt watch him
I sure did, he spent a big deal of the season away for family problems, I also know that Van Gaal used him on the wing in a not so preferred position for him.

Once again you prove me that your opinion about me when it comes to Riquelme is just coming out of your ass.

no its coming out of your statements, so if you bring up that season with barca as the reason why hes a choker then immediately follow it up with the above, so choker is someone whos not comfortable playing in another position and who misses chunks of the season for family problems?

I dont like the word choker, but Riquelme was a high maintenance kinda guy who required insanely amount of responsibility for the teams to be built around him, and everything to be based on him doing well or not (very traditional nr 10, from a player who is a rather difficult personality to handle). And yes in that sense, he has been bit of a choker for Villareal and the Argie NT. Not Barca, that was just a normal flop and mismatch of personality and position.

And no, I dont mean he choked a bit for Villareal because of one pk miss onlky, and him taking them far is acknowledged. But generally he faltered in stages where a player truly shows what he is made of.

once again a blurring of terms, is it difficult personality or is it choking? coz if its villareal we re talking about hes the main reason we are even talking about villareal, as for argentina thats one big load of crap, when as you say the team was built around him and he was the catalyst of it they were magnificent in the WC on their way to the semis only to be subbed too early. Once again how is he a choker? he goes missing in some games? who doesnt? according to this logic messi is even a greater choker than roman.

Nah it isnt blurring, difficult personality is for off the pitch, he seems bit calm and quiet type, so at first everyone just assumes he is modest type. But he was a major major primadonna for Villareal outside the pitch, bit hard to handle due to his stubborness and how he acted if he didnt get what he wanted (made alot of ridicolous demands). Heard similar stories when he was at Barca, and Boca too. Think is the main reason his career didnt go a more successful path then it did.

Choking is weird term, because it assumes players cant be not great at times, but there were enough times where he let them down a bit, when everything was riding on him.

He goes missing when it really matters, two finals against Brazil, two semi-finals against Arsenal. He does a lot of work in tournaments but when it's time to take the team for the next stem he chokes. That's why I call him a choker. If you really want to use the same term do describe Del Piero then I agree with you, he choked big time in EURO 2000.

I mentioned Barca later, his biggest choking performances are with Villarreal and Argentina.
