You are generally correct, though in the UN itself , the U.S doesn't have strong power. Because of the structure of the assembly where 1 country = 1 vote, it is the weak and less developed countries that actually have the strongest power. For example, this was shown when the assembly referred to the ICJ different cases, in contrast to the U.S wishes, and in contrast to the European Union wishes as well. It is no surprising then that poweful countries like the U.S wish to change the voting structure of the U.N for a different system, for example population wise.
Sure minor issues will get through the vote. But when it matters, the US will use their power to lobby before the vote and have their way regardless. Effectively making the UN pointless.

I guess that's true, it makes sense, but there are still inconveniences. The ICJ referral cases for example were frowned upon very heavily by U.S and many european countries. Also many decisions against Israel. I guess any matter of life and death for the americans, they would use their pressure through the lobbies more successfully like you say..... if matters that important for them even arise ...

It's already pointless...

It's rumoured today in South Lebanon that UN troops there are giving Israel information about the situation of Hezbullah...

The people there are calling for throwing the France and Fiji useless guys into their countries because of that...

And this is because of the UN's refusal to help people from Marwaheen village before 3 days, which caused killing 27 civilians...

That will be interesting since the troops deployed in Lebanon have already helped Hizballah in the past to kidnap the previous soldiers, and U.N and Red Cross trucks have also been used to transfer qassam missles in the past.

I'm sorry you cant be mature

no need discussing anything with you

I think he's just too lazy to discuss the matters at the momment or his mood isn't right for serious talks.

But He made some pretty calm and good explanations in the 'pathetic democracy' thread about the palestinians side of things. I mean that thread is just filled with the history of the palestinian - israeli conflict. He elaborated quite much and is probably tired to write again about everything.

Its much easier for us outsiders to talk about these things with a clear head. Both Rebel and mnementh are at the core of the conflict so it must be a much more sensitive issue for them. Its also very emotional.

Don't get me wrong, Im not a neutral, after having read many of the news and facts from both sides, I've become sympathetic towards the palestinian cause and very much more disturbed with the leaders/government of both Israel and the US in this conflict.

But Im not against Jews nor the Israeli people. Civilians on both side are equally innocent regardless of religion or race. But like sheeps in a herd, they pay for the mistakes of the herder. Somewhere in the begining I believe there were many hidden truths and deceptions towards their own people more so in Israel. But now the loses on both sides are too great for either population (note: not government) to atleast 'try' to understand the situations of the other side.

Now, even though I understand more or less whats happening I still can't see a clear way out of it. I would honestly move in favor of there not bieng an Israeli state when I consider how it became and what its government's actions were behind it all.
But completely whiping out Israel IMO, is also not a realistic solution. I understand Jews have faced awhole lot of deaths and killing during their history and whether their history/acts preceeding those killings merited such hatred I can't say, but everybody deserves to live in peace.

1)Let me make my point 'bout Iran's role in this crisis.Iran's government seems to be the Hezbollah friend.President Ahmadi Nejad announced that Iranians should prepare themselves for some tough years.it means Iran's government will keep helping Hezbollah (and this is one of the reasons that Iran is among the list of terrorist countries since Hezbollah is considered to be a terrorist group).
Yes,I'm an Iranian and I know our fucking government very well.the only thing they don't mind is the safety and the security of Iranian ppl.they show themsleves the friend of all the little poor countries.but they aren't.I'm sure they help the Hezbollah of Lebanon financially but they just do it to keep the fire of this disgusting war,ON.they actually never mind about the ppl of Lebanon or Palestine.they do every thing in favour of themselves.each time it seems that the situation is closing to the peace,Iran's government do something to destroy everything.believe me,Iran's government is loving to see this nonstop war's going.they just like it.once Yasser Arafat said that the problems the Palestine's fighters had gotton from Iran are much more than which they'd gotton from Israel in it's damn true.I expect an attack from the U.S government or Israel to Iran in the coming years or even months.then much more innocent ppl will be killed just because of stupidness of Iran's government and it's new fucking president.

2)I wanna make my point about the US government as well.they suppose themesleves the master of the whole world and because of it,they think they are right to interfere in each case, each event in every country.this sentence that: " we will gift democracy to the Iraqi ppl" really annoys me.

3)In the end,in this thread,it seems no one tries to make a justified point without considering to the names and the religions of these 2 sides.many INNOCENT ppl are killed and shockingly I see the whole world completely silent.I don't mind these ppl who are killed are Muslims or Jews, they are just HUMAN BEINGS.

living in peace as a HUMAN,no matter you are Muslim,Jews or Budha,no matter you are white or black, man or woman,in this hateful world seems impossible.

Well said KingAle. How are the Iranian media reporting the situation? Is it just Israel bashing, or is there some criticism against Hezbollah in the newspapers?
