I'm just saying that discounting the Bible because it wasn't physical written by God is playing on unlevel playing field.

Also, when Allah issued the challenge to the people to write a chapter to match the Quran, it was unfair from the beginning, since Allah would have been the only one able to fulfill the requirements of the literature being written by divinity.
Ok first this challange was made to the disbelievers who said the Quran was written by (illeterate) muhammed. So if it was really written by him then they could easily write a chapter. But because its from Allah its impossible to do so (both in literary, scientific and guidance terms).
Therefore it was sent from god.

wasn't the Quran written by a scribe from muhammad's speaking?

If so, would that not discount the literary value of it?

No it wasnt, the sunna is which is totaly differant is.
because the sunna is from the prophet its not a miracle (in literary terms) But it has some great values that were taught to the prophet. (like the bible)

Muhammad knew the Quranic verses through angel Gabriel, but it was words from God. he memorized it by heart and so did his followers. Only when he died and many of those who memorized it by heart died only did Caliph Abu Bakr decided to write down the Quran into a book as they were losing the ppl who memorized it.

It is up to you if you want to believe if the Quran is from God, but I ask for a bit of respect for this thread. He was merely stating his opinion and you can contradict it but if you do please do it non controversially.

As a muslim OBVIOUSLY I believe in Quran. however with me being a Muslim aside, I would just like to state additional facts why I believe Quran IS the word from God.

In the Quran Allah specifically said he would leave the body of the pharaoh who was an enemy to Moses in this world as a reminder. And few thousand years later, people did discover pharaoh mummies. And I am quite taken with how in the Quran there were wordings about how rain was created and human reproduction etc. There are SCIENCE in this book and, Muhammad, being illiterate, in a not-so-civilized country could not have known this.

I know most you do not believe in Quran, but like I said, I am just stating my points. Good day (or night :D )

The holy Quran had been sent to the prophet 1400 years ago but still its strange how many scientific facts are discovered everyday in this 1400 years old book... These facts are only recently discovered, so Muhammed (PBUH) could have not known them.
One of these Miracles as I like to call them is the miracle of numbers in the Quran.

I will write the word in bold and how many times they were mentioned on the holy Quran.

    Life 115
    After Life 115

    Angels 88
    Devils 88

    Living 145
    Death 145

    The usefull 50
    The harmfull 50

    The people 368
    The messengers 368

    Men 24
    Women 24

    Month 12

    Year 365
    ---------------------------
Is it coincidence............. wait and see.....

    Sea 32
    Land 13

THE SUM OF THE NUMBER OF TIMES SEA AND LAND ARE MENTIONED IS 45 TIMES AND
    32 / 45 X 100% = 71.111%
    13 / 45 X 100% = 28.889%

THE ABOVE PERCENTAGES REPRESENT TE ACTUAL PROPTION OF SEA AS IS TO LAND

    --------------
    So is it coincidence..........
Was muhammed the illeterate man a genius.... how could he have made all of this possible, how did he know the proportion of sea to land.......
    Its Allah......
    ----------------
There are much more miracles that I will post later...........
    What do you think coincidance???
i don't believe in muhamed nor in alah...

btw, why does God say "that which we have sent down", when he's not a triune God like the God of Christians?
    Good question :thumb: :)

It's something hard to explain for non-arabic speakers....but i'll try by best

In Arabic, when trying to emphasize an action i made when speaking to someone (1st person references only but not always), I would refer to myself as a plural.

It's pretty obvious for Arabic readers, because we use it all the time.

    sounds wierd in English :D

Things like this are some of the reasons why the Qura'an shouldn't be translated to another language word by word. Only the expleneation should be translated.

    Hilarious theory!
The sad part is that i doubt you've ever even opened the Quran or did any research before you shut the door on this religion.

call it a coincedence if you will with the numbers matching for oposite things....ok, so what? maybe so....

but really, open any other book, a novel if you will. use any software you want to help you count.. and find a decent connection that makes sense :)

Well I dont really know anything about this, Im catholic and I wish to still be, but it sounds very interesting.
There's no harm in broadening your horizon.

I encourage you to read more... not just about Islam. look at other religions too. Then, use your mind and make a choice. :)
