I don't know about other people but I'm more of a Del Piero fan rather than a Juve fan. It doesn't mean that I wouldn't support Juventus after Alex' retirement but things have to be done in the right way. You just can't show the door to a player like Del Piero.

He has to go sometime. I think some would have a problem with him leaving no matter the circumstance, and someone would shoulder the blame.

We'd all like to see him riding off into the distance holding the CL trophy, but football isn't romantic now.
But JJ, you have to admit that they didn't show any respect towards Ale in the way they announced his departure.

While I'm almost sure that none of the fans here (even Rab and except for me) would stop supporting Juve after Ale's retirement, I'm also sure that if our club had let him decide on his retirement himself without trying to remind him that this is going to be his last season, I'd have been perfectly okay with his retirement. Players' interests definitely come after those of the club, if the coach doesn't think that Ale is good enough, he has to bench him, no complaints there. But for a player like him, especially with such low salaries, Juve can afford offering new contracts as a sign of gratitude and respect (for almost 20 years of service) every year until he decides to hang up his boots.
Maybe both coach and our board think that, so maybe that's the reason behind it. If that is true, what if Del Piero wants to play?

:D Can you please be clear. Under what circumstances would you have accepted this move and carried on being an unmoved Juventino? It sounds quite bitter, like a split with a girlfriend :D
When unknown figure like Andrea Agnelli shuts his mouth and doesn't interfere in Juventus most important player's future. If Del Piero wants to leave Juventus in 2016 then give him the pen and contract without any hesitation and with your left hand behind your back while serving him the pen. He leaves when he wants to leave.

Who is Andrea Agnelli FFS? Who's he to announce Del Piero's last season? What is Andrea Agnelli? What he does? What's his history? I know the answer, he's nothing but a disgusting figure.

I have no problem with him being benched. He can leave if he wants to play more.
I know, I was just pointing out this.

Maybe he just wants to keep playing. And judging by his words and how he wants to play until he's 40 I'd say he's asking for more time on the pitch, which might not be possible at Juve. Not to mention 4-3-3 system that doesn't suit him.

It is possible at Juve to play more but...

But they're forcing him out benching him so he can finally convince himself that he needs to go. When you pick Boriello, Giacc, Pepe and sometimes Quag/Matri over him then it's not about them being more talented or capable of giving more than him, it's about showing him the door.

I don't know, if he wants to play more and he can't get that at Juve, he can leave. He can do whatever he thinks is the best for himself. It's not the club's fault if they can't guarantee him more playing time. But if staying at Juve is what Alex wants, they should let him stay then. They should offer him new contracts as long as he wants to stay. It's Del Piero, not a random player we are talking about.

That goes without a doubt, if he's not asking to be a starter and if they can't offer him that.

Well, to be honest, 4-3-3 does not suit him by any means. Players like Borriello and Pepe shouldn't be placed in the same sentence as Alex, but I highly doubt he'd offer a lot if he's placed on the wing at this point. And he surely isn't a lone striker to begin with.

Anyone who says club > player, club > anyone, is stupid or football fascist.

You know what? I think I'll visit here once in a while, just for you mothafuckaaaa.
There's no such thing as a better fan or a truer fan. That's a subjective term. It's amazing to see how people find their takes on this matter so definitive that they stick to it forever and automatically rule out anything other than that.

It's not about 4-3-3 Dusan, even though Conte changes his formation plenty of times during the 2nd half. This scenario has nothing to do with 4-3-3 that we're playing. It's bigger than this.

Why "or"?

I'm clearly both stupid AND a football fascist.
Thanks for calling my stupid.
FFS you two sound like Polish women...

It's not just that. All the 'club above all' thing is just like 'the country above all'. What's the difference?
