I've known him for quite some time too. I admired his love for DP. But for the past year, I'm truly disgusted by what it has turned some of his fans into. They are abusing and cursing Agnelli because he didn't grant them their selfish wish of letting Ale stay in Juventus. These people are not Juventus fans. If they were, they wouldn't be abusing the president. Someone who's decisions basically got us financial stability, a new stadium, and one of the best seasons in our history. I'm not saying that Agnelli is exempted from criticism. But what these people are doing is just spewing hate. He's become an outlet of their rage and negative emotions. It can't be considered criticism at all. It's fuckin' ridiculous!
Oh, and some of them even said they doubt they were ever Juventus fans or not. That says enough.
Technically, Sheikh. Financial stability is a function of winning. We were in the red last year under Agnelli's presidency. Conte won us the scudetto and that helps paint a different picture. I said this before and I'll say it again. Agnelli appointed Conte, which appears brilliant, but it was not an appointment that was intended to do what happened this year. On the surface of it, it was a bad decision, but one driven home by the ultras. We are all very lucky it turned out this way, I'm sure you'll agree luck played its part because Conte wasn't qualified to take over a 7th place team with no quality. He got the job because he was a Juventino, first and foremost. Also, I'd like to bring to your notice that the stadium was the work of the Triade, not Andrea. These plans were booted in 2003 and work began in 2006. Speaking of his work, for eg., I think Andrea could and should've gotten us a better sponsorship deal which he could've done. The jeep deal for example is I think offering us 1 million more than what we had on our existing deal over a cumulative 3 year period. Don't get me wrong, Andrea is a Juventus guy, but this scudetto largely belongs to Conte and unfortunately it is disguising certain things we would've otherwise considered or questioned Andrea about. As for the Alex deal, even if we don't question whether it was right or wrong, it's safe to conclude the issue was poorly handled, especially as it was Andrea's responsibility to the fans to offer respect to their legend.
To me, Andrea, Beppe and Conte are not exempt from criticism as long as they are attached to the club. A lot of people disagree with this view, but I think it's a fair one.
