You might be right, but the 98 ball & 2000 ball were very similar.

Apart from one having 'World Cup 1998' on it, and the other 'Euro 2000'.

Even if Andrea Agnelli's Juventus wins more titles, they'll still never be as rich morally.

Hmmm, I don't think that's true. When you are talking about additional one year contracts they would be determined further into the season, otherwise if he sits down in August 2011 and says he wants a new contract until June 2013 it is virtually a two year contract. I'd say Jan 2012 and beyond would be more the time to make that decision, if he hadn't decided to leave already.

tell me why does the club not offer him a new contract? Wouldn't it make the things easier for everyone, fans and media? If Alex is determined to leave, he will decline it. Fans will know that he is leaving on his own terms and the club will have shown a classy gesture.

I'm not completely convinced it wasn't a mutual decision anyway, or that Agnelli and Alex had no already spoken and agreed verbally. Agnelli just messed it up. Talk about a power struggle and all the rest is conspiracy theorist stuff, there can never be a real power struggle between an Agnelli and a player, no matter the player. You only need to look at Calciopoli and the aftermath.

But if it (quitting Juve at the end of the season) was what Ale was determined to do, there couldn't be any disappointment/surprise. I agree that he perhaps had talked about a last year contract when signing the current one but he'd thought he might have changed his opinion. I see no other reason why he would be disappointed by the announcement. And if he's indeed changed his mind and wants to stay, the club must offer a new contract to him because this is the right thing to do.
