He is sittnig in bench and playing 15 or 20 minutes in some games (not in every game) and still he is the one to be blamed.

It's disgrace how someone can call himself a Juventus fan.
You seem to have missed my point. I am not blaming DP for any of our horrible form. That is quite clear in my posts. I am suggesting, that his chances of playing in our likely formations are close to zero. And that at best, he will be a substitute, who rarely performs anything but a cameo role in the final minutes to please the crowd. Also...I was referring to DP's own desires, to make a stab at the world cup squad. That is not going to happen, no contesting this, if he isn't playing. That is fairly simple to understand...

Indeed...He has played 258 minutes in this new formation, minutes that amount to less then 3 games, and minutes he has played as just returning from injury and trying to recoup. What I'm trying to say is, lets set aside that utter utter BS above for a sec, but the fact that he SAID that Del Piero has FAILED in 4-3-1-2, when it has been less then 3 games, and 1 of those games he played as a Left winger in 4-2-3-1, to be insanely ridicolous BS to say. First of all, hardly played at all, secondly, THIS TEAM HAS FAILED, regardless of formation, and not the fucking player who has played the least in a so called formation :sergio:

With all due respect gutterpoet, that comes off as nothing but fucking retarded, would be too mild to say anything else to this embarrassing shit :sergio:
The bottom line here is that if we play 1 in attack, there is no chance of Del Piero playing in the first team. Its not ridiculous. We don't need to give him more time in either 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-2-1, because he is NOT a lone striker. He is far too flimsy, slow and weak in the air. And his only use there would be winning free kicks...

I was thinking partly of DP's own desires for next year's world cup. I am not at all biased towards our players, and have to agree with the much more widely non juve supporter held view of DP which is that he is over the hill, and when we see our main rivals playing such dynamic front lines as Milito/eto'o/schneider...and we are thinking of Diego/trez/DP...its quite clear who is the stronger, the more modern, the pacier and more powerful.

I have always loved Del Piero, and that is why I would rather see him PLAYING when he still desperately wants to PLAY...but that isn't possible at Juve, if we are to persevere with 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-2-1. I would be happy for him to achieve his dreams of heading to the world cup as the azzurri squad lacks invention. Obviously he would only make it as an impact sub, to bring on from the bench, as he is too weak to be starting, for both italy and juve.

As I already altered by original SELL HIM post...I feel no need to do so again. Perhaps, Osman, your love for DP, like many others on here, clouds your ability to be objective. I wouldn't be devastated if he was at another club, where he could play and be happy. And I will only develop more hate and contempt for Ciro, if he tries to deploy him in a 3 behind Trez, which DEMANDS dynamic players. Which DP is not. Even if he beats a player with his dribbling, he is so slow now, and weak, that the same passed player has time to catch him up for a second bite...Best dribbler in our team??? I don't think so, or hope not.

As with any player at our club who I don't speak highly off, like Amauri, i will be overjoyed if he proves me wrong, storms back into the team and takes the second half of the season by the scruff of the neck and drags us up the table.

Forza Del Piero, Forza Juve...

To call my comments from before retarded. Was a little harsh...but fuck it, you are a passionate chap. I can understand your reaction, though not adopt it myself.

thegutterpoet, you really think that dp will give juventus for another team just to catch the wc 2010? you are wrong...you really think that juve will stick to 1 in front only? you are wrong again...

I dont think he will leave. No...and never suggested that I thought he would. That I suggest its in his best interests to leave, if he actually wants to keep playing professional football...yes, I stand by that.

Rather than sell, it would be best, and more respectful, to offer him an ambassador role. But when it comes to playing...I would personally prefer to see more of Giovinco than more of Del Piero. Especially given the fact that our season, competition wise, it over...I mean the main two, Champions League and Serie A. Giovinco is the future. Del Piero is the Past.

I have already conceded my error in suggesting he be sold. But I will stick by it if I allow myself to believe that he truly wants to play.

Anyone reading my posts and concluding that I am asserting that DP is to blame for our horrific form this year, needs to study english. As its not at all what I have been writing...I feel sorry for DP. He wants to play. But will not play whilst Ciro is trying to sort out our midfield and remaining as coach, as the ONLY formation in which we have looked fairly decent is a 4-2-3-1.

True enough, DP has not been fit. but fit or not, there is no place for him in any formation which leaves only one in attack..Unless he plays in the middle of the 3, pushing Diego out wide. And why the fuck would be spend 25m on a player, then play him out of position????

I want to see Melo, Marchisio, Momo, Giovinco, Diego. They seem the Future of our team. And the simple conclusion is that Diego, Giovinco and DP cannot play together.

I don't see it as at all disrespectful to want what a player wants, in this case, it is for him to be playing...Unlike Totti, who blatantly still has a huge amount of talent, DP's decline has been far steeper and faster than his roman counterpart. So that comparison is unfair. In short, whilst in the past DP has given us as much as Totti gives Roma, that is NOT the case now, for DP. Whilst it remains the case for Totti...

In a perfect world, we would have Momo, Marchiso, Melo as a 3, with Diego playing behind Trez and Giovinco. With DP getting time as Gio's sub. That would keep me happy, and the rest of you, to a degree.

however, if any of you seriously believe that DP can be fit into ANY formation which has a lone striker, then I wish you luck for the coming months...

Del Piero doubters is one of my favorite kinds of people tbh... especially when we come back to laugh at them, it became some sort of a ritual around here, and I love rituals.
It's the best thing if you ask me.

The previous Del Piero thread.....that was something. I really had good time laughing at the haters/doubters you name it. They also disappeared afterward.

They said he wont break the record 185 goals, he broke it.
They said he wont make the WC, he made it.
They said he will never be top scorer again, he did it.
They said he wont touch 250goals, he easily passed it.
They said we should sell him, we laughed.
They said we should bench him, he was scoring for fun.
They said he wont break anymore records, he hit his 500games +.
They said he wont further play more than 2008, we are in 2010.
They disappeared, we remained.

:touched:, good times.

I am not a hater, nor a doubter, of anything other than the blatantly obvious. Which is DP has no future in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-2-1. Which seems to be, what our current coach is focused on adopting and implementing...But truly, I'm bored now with banging on and on about how much i respect the chap and wish him well...wherever he is playing.

So its one thing to defend the idea of him being sold, which I have rescinded now, several times, in depth...but its another thing altogether to value his input to the current starting XIs we seem to be employing under Ciro. To suggest that he is important, on the field, is to concede total ignorance to the last few months.

I have love for him, and always will do. But do now wish to see him flogged like a dead horse on the wing of a 4-2-3-1. That is not a way for such a impeccably professional and dignified servant to the club and game in general, to finish his career...

The only thing obvious, Daniel, is that nothing is obvious at all at the moment.
OK, mate...we are agreed!...and its christmas day, just me and the hound, damian marley squealing loud and clear from my speakers, lamb roast cooking al forno...I am content to wish everyone, even teeth, a wonderful day full of joy and love.

And as for DP...I will pray to the gods of the underworld, that he refinds his form, re-enters the fray in January and lifts the team and all of juventini the world over..
