braces? Explain how those work
I played today with a bunch of older guys (ie. 40ish) and they were quite keen on kicking at feet. :fero: But it was fun and my ankle isn't doing that bad. Already played last Saturday mostly just shooting on goal and that didn't harm it at all. Today I had a slight fallback but it wasn't that bad. Need some way to get it stronger in the long run cause this just keeps happening.

Anyhow, this is what mine looks like:
They just restrict the ankle's movement to certain directions. The one I have just prevents my foot from bending/rolling inward (or for my ankle to get twisted). The laced type is the best IMO beccause I could tie it really really tight. So it's good for weak ankles that are recovering.
It does have some drawbacks though:
1. Since you can't move your foot in certain directions, it restricts your options when it comes to types of passes or shots.
2. Also, your inability to move your ankle puts more pressure on your knees. So be carefull when running very fast then trying to stop or when trying to zig-zag. you don't want to twist your knee.
3. If you wear it for longer than a month without some sort of ankle physiotherapy, your ankle muscles/tendons will therefore get used to the brace and not get stronger. So only wear the brace durring games only and don't depend on it forever.
4. Sometimes it's hard to fit into my shoe with that thing on. (a shoe horn helps though)
If you havn't tried them, I think you should give them a shot. They are not meant for compression you know like the foot wraps. They're basically meant for the playing with weak ankles. I hope your case isn't as bad as mine! :stress:
I hope that helped
